This is some highly annoying issue, which has been in the game at least since 1.1: Sometimes freshly built ships being sent to the colony rally point get launched from orbit, but do not have their autopilot set. They just hang around in front of the colony. Rather annoying to find that there are 20 ships in various places doing nothing instead of flying to the rally point. The whole point of those rally points is that you can just set them and not give each new ship an order to go som

This IS a highly annoying bug, and it's still present in 1.2 beta 1. But the game never asks you to give those ships any order, they just hang there in front of your planet. Then once in a while I suddenly find like five constructors sitting in front of one of my planets doing nothing. Then I realise that there are twelve more in front of various other planets. Please fix this, people, the rally points are there to eliminate the micromanagement, having to give ea

Everything would be fine if the damn ship ranges would be far far far far FAR smaller than they currently are. But of course this might be trivial to mod in. You should probably have a base range of no more than half a sector before any life support research, and not have any life support modules available before you put in a lot of research either. Base range would increase as you research more life support stuff. The life support modules would probably also have to be larger, and give more var

I just have been offered Balanced Vision in exchange for Subspace Rebounder by the Custom Race! What? So we ended up trading nothing for nothing. Hope it still adds up to them being friendly towards me though.

Next turn, apparently we did declare war on the Terrans. I take back my earlier statement about the Terrans declaring war on the Custom Race, they declared war on the Drath Legion, as a result of their alliance with the Custom Race. It is getting late, perhaps I somehow managed to misread the dialog box and the Drath asked me to declare war on the Terrans, not the Custom Race. I also have been playing the Terrans up till this game, now I play as Iconian Refuge. I'm used to the blue te

After previously apparently getting to sign a peace treaty with the Terrans (Terran Overlords actually, I changed the Terrans' name at some point when I was playing as them), now suddenly after an assassination attempt, the Drath Legion declared war on the Custom Race, and I was asked to honor my alliance with the Drath and declare war on the Custom Race. I said yes ok, but far from being at war with the Custom Race, they are still my ally, while now I am suddenly at war again with the Terrans (

Is this a bug or a feature: due to a random event, the Drath Legion (my ally) went to war with the Terrans (also my ally). I took this opportunity to declare war on the Terrans myself (so much for my Good alignment, I guess ). Now, this turn, I see that diplomacy icon 'The Terrans have signed a peace agreement with the Drath Legion', and also another one saying 'The Terrans have signed a peace agreement with us'. I was shocke

Okay, I just got the THIRD tech for free the same way. Again, subspace rebounder, although I have already researched the other Good defense tech as well. Got Total Majesty 'in return' (they still didn't get anything).

I would like to report the following two issues: First of all, not sure whether this is a bug, but I started a game with random opponents, and one of the AI opponents was the Custom Race!! Second, this Custom Race opponent had aligned itself with Neutral. Then it wanted Subspace Rebounder from me, in exchange for some other tech. Needless to say, Subspace Rebounder is only available to Good races, so they couldn't actually use it. However, they still asked for it in the dip

The point is, in GC2 you get experience depending on how 'dangerous' the enemy is. They probably use one of those A+D+H/3.1415 formulas for that. The ships I'm killing have 2 shield and 1 armor, and I get a whole lot of experience points for shooting them. Probably much more than I would get if they were just 1 beam attack ships.

Well, the point is, I have been killing these unarmed defenders for a while. I'm using very slow research with the modified tech tree where each tech takes 8x longer to research, and the enemy hasn't researched weapons yet. Got no experience for it at all. Now, apparently, they have researched some defenses, and are cranking out defenders with 2 shield and 1 armor, and still no weapons. And now I do get experience points for killing them. Just seems so strange. I previously thought that experien

I just noticed that my ships are gaining experience from killing enemy ships only equipped with defenses. This shouldn't happen, after all, even if a ship has 2000 defenses and 100000 hit points, as long as it has no offensive capabilities, it will always get destroyed by my 2 beam ship. It's just like attacking completely unarmed ships in that respect.

I figured it out BTW, SmartException doesn't tell you to put anything inside the body of the message, so I just sent it blank, and it bounced. You should probably modify SmartException to tell the user to write something in the message body too, not just the email and subject, and an attachment. I put something in the message body, and now it did get through (at least, I didn't get any 'message bounced' mail back, only the generic stardock galciv2 support reply mail).

The last thing a super rich person or corporation will want is ESCAPE imperialism. Being rich will probably get you at the top of that empire anyway. The ship is called the Flagship. Probably an unimaginable amount of resources has been spent on building the thing. The medium hull design tech is simply the tech needed to build medium hulls at affordable prices. How about such an explanation?

Sometimes the minimap is garbled. Saving the game, quitting, starting again and loading doesn't fix it. It fixes itself after some time playing though. In addition, in the beginning of the game, the graphs which show when you don't select anything on the map appear garbled in the middle. This is seemingly unrelated to the minimap thing, and it fixes itself after some turns.

It seems that the game crashes quite often with the message Debug Message: Error flipping back buffer to primary buffer. Debug Message: Device lost In debug.err, on my 9800 Pro Usually after hitting the Next Turn button. The 3D stuff still works after such a crash though. Seems to happen more often since I installed the 6.4 driver for the card (latest driver).

It seems I can't even enable it anymore in 1.1, it goes right back off. At least in 1.0X it showed 'Auto Retreat' under the ship on the map. Didn't do anything else either though.

Just like the title says, if you compose a message to the address provided by SmartException, with the subject provided by SmartException, and attach the file created by SmartException, you get a mail in response which says it has been marked as spam by the Stardock! Can someone tell me what the auto-retreat option on ships actually does? I never noticed any effect, there is not a word about it in the manual, and there is nothing about what it does in the forums either.

While you're at it, add an assimilation beam. You fire it at the enemy ship, and soak up (part of) their weapons, defenses, hit points, engines, and other systems, so they are now on your ship not theirs. After a while, there won't be a thing that could stop this ship. Back to the point, yes, RTS tends to have the possibility to take over enemy units. Space RTS have it too. Star Trek Armada II has it, but of course, in star trek you have transporters. So if you manage to knock out the
