I believe that if you choose to "blow it up," then you will be shown a warning dialogue stating you will initiate war with the owners of the starport (unless, of course, it's your own, then perhaps you may just have the choice to upgrade it to something else; don't know for sure about that....). Cheers, Helo

Are there PQ 6 planets in just one system or lots of them? Lots of them. The other civs seem unaware that these planets are up for grabs. I am the only civ that is going after them (churning out colony ships as fast as possible). Just thinking....I should get those ships made on some of my distant planets, or I'm going to deplete the coloni

Here I am playing in my corner of the universe, mid-way into my game, and suddenly there are tons of PQ6 planets, that have NEVER been available (inhabitable) before (like Jupiter, Saturn, etc). None of the other civs were making any attempt to colonize the ones in their sphere of influence. Just have never seen this before. Can someone explain if this is part of the game? I am still using Version 1.11 (waiting to download 1.2 when it's completed the testing cycle). Cheers, <

You should know the moment before you hit the "turn" button that the next screen is going to say "Victory" (Diplomacy Victory, for example) b/c you have just made an alliance with the last civ. That is where you save the game. After your win, go back to "Load" and at the top of the screen it will say "endgame." The "save game" will be the one just before that. So, load it up and keep playing. Hope that made sense or addressed your post???? Cheers, Helo

I am feeling a little frustrated. I spend a lot of time maxing out star-base tech defense, to protect my important bases (well, err uhmm, they are all important), but there appears to be no defense adequate for holding off even a light-weight enemy warship. Is there a way to have a fleet in orbit around a base (just like a planet)? If I am doing something wrong, either tactically, or technically, I would appreciate your comments. I tried putting a ship in orbit around a space station but it

I was so proud when I was able to get my picture (personal pic) up-loaded, so when I posted, it would be visible. Now, all I get are those small white boxes with the lower cap red "x" in them, in place of my photo (or anyone else's). I'm on my friend's computer now, and it's the same deal. I can't see anyone's avatar, or photo. Helo Anyone else having this problem?

Hi Dr Ben! Welcome to the forum! I'm rather new to the forum community, but everyone here is most helpful and there is a lot of talent here. I expect you will get many more helpful responses to your question than mine, but I'll give it a go.... Anyway, it is a terrific idea, and one that I will try, too. You haven't said how long you have been playing GCII, so don't know to what degree you understand the game mechanics, etc (how well you play). Nonetheless, IMHO, I can

1600s isn't that good, to achieve 1600 tactics calculation is probably your strongest suite anyway. I used to be FIDE rated... 2060ish. Not sure what you mean by "1600 tactics calc is probably your strongest suite." Perhaps you could clarify that for me. Regarding your FIDE rating, that is, indeed quite impressive to someone (like moi) who ha

I have one kind of freighter, too (actually a large hull). I find them very useful. I go to the shipyard and put as many engines on a large hull (1 HP) that I can, with just enough room for a weapon. I call it my Fast Troop Interceptor. That way I can fly half way across the galaxy (exaggerating a bit, lol) to intercept an unarmed troop transport that is getting ready to invade one of my planets. Hi Everyone! I have been playing the Dread Lord campaign(s); completing "Unexpected Visitor," "Ixth," and just finished "Darkness Rising," (or so I thought. I thought that once the D's surrendered to me and handed over the precursor device (BTW I never even bothered dealing with the Alterians because I was so far ahead of them in all areas), that would take me to the next game. However, to my surprise, now (even though it clearly states I completed the Darkness Rising endgame) I win

Well, err...ummm... First of all, great information. Secondly, I think I wouldn't want to get on your "bad" side; ever! On a less "tongue in cheek" mode..that is (partly) what I am doing now. I have researched the Diplomacy tech to the max and built up quite a nice navy. I figured out how to (by using the sliders) whip through the techs whenever I needed something. Now, everyone is at war with the others. I am just sitting there researching the tree for superior weapons now, send

Hi Everyone, Thanks again for your help with my last game. I posted a big thank you on that one. Your suggestions were the reason why I won that one, pulling myself out of a big hole and winding up victorious. Anyway.... here is the deal.... I have only been able to win Diplomatic Victories in spite of trying otherwise. It seems that whenever I choose to Ally myself with another civilization, then I eventually wind up (if I even win at all) getting the Dip Vic. So, I h

Woot Woot!! I Won a Diplomatic Victory. In the past, when winning a Diplomatic Victory, I never saw the nice ending (after the Victory Screen) with the 3 fighters all landing, and...like...everyone is all warm and fuzzy (lol). Seriously, though, I was able to incorporate something from all of your posts to figure my way out. It was all helpful. I learned so much from this game. I think it's the longest one I ever played and now because of your help, I understand

I have put my heart and soul in this game and refuse to cave-in, even though a victory seems hopeless. Here is the basic situation.. The game rates my position as number one (in terms of most powerful civilizations). However, I am in the red (going deeper and deeper into the abyss at 40 % of my GNP and neative 103bc per turn), allied with two civilizations, and at war with the remaining two. I have only 4 planets, and if you look real close at the mini map, you can barely see my lit

Thanks for your response(s) AND "Wickipedia" is now the first link on my "favorites" toolbar. I just checked it out and am totally amazed. Sincerely, Helo PS Actually GCII Dread Lords is the first; Wicki the second. What's yours?

I read the forums a lot, and see the term "fan-boy" used now and then. I think I know what it is, but can't be sure. Now, give me a break, because I'm not Generation X (just an old man with a young heart), so help me out here kids. BTW, my definition of kids includes you 30, and 40 year old people......lol Helo

There is a bonus tile that enables you to build a tech in order to receive a 100-300% bonus if you build something that will increase your approval. Now, it doesn't say "influence," nor does it say "happiness of your colonists, per say." Am I just being too concrete here in my thinking? This has always confused me. Don't answer the part about my cognitive ability, just the answer to the question kind people..... I don't know whether to build frictionless clothing, an embassy, a cultural excha

Well, ....what can I say. I could say I was playing devil's advocate to save some face here, but why! When I read your responses, you all really set me straight. I particularly appreciate the fact that you responded without getting defensive and gave me some terrific examples to completely make me re-think the whole issue of exploits. You are so right..."Using exploits is, indeed, cheating yourself." "Exploiting a loophole is really the same principle as using a cheat code." "...reporting

I have been posting fine until tonight. I have tried to post under "game talk" and it posted under Forum Home. So, I tried to delete it, thinking maybe I wasn't in the game talk section when I posted. Well, there just isn't a delete selection when you try to get rid of the intial post. There is one if you are responding to another person's post, but not the original. Help!

I have been reading posts where people have found very clever ways to take advantage of the AI's weakness. People seem rather upset about this. One person posts..."Can I do this...."and the responses are "yes, but why would you want to. Seems rather cheesy to me." Wish I could give you the exact post, but hope you are following... I think that people who find these exploits are very clever. Sure, maybe use it once to see if it works, but good for you if you find something that beats the AI. It
