I wanted to put a post up and see if I can get a feeling on how other people like the new special enviroment that some planets have. Talking about the planets that you need to research techs in order to colonize. These were added to slow down the colony rush that happened at the beginning of games, but right now I am at a toss up as to if this has really made much of a difference. In most of the DA games I have played there still seems to be rush to grab the generally habitabl

I saw it happen once as well to the Dread Lords in my game. But I got an event window that popped up and told me that the cultural influence was increasing. Don't remember the text of the message, but I did get an in game message, thus I assumed this was one of the new MegaEvents in DA.
I noticed with the first strike super ability that my ships are still gaining experience and HP with each combat. Even when the opponent never even gets a chance to fire back. I am not sure how it is defined, but I didn't think you gained experience and/or HP when your opponent was unable to damage your ships. It seems to me that the same affect should be in place whether you kill your opponent in one round, or have strong enough defenses. Or if I am missing somethin
I noticed this reduced movement in one of my games and thought it was a great idea. But I also thought at first that it was common to all races, anytime you spent more than one turn inside enemy controled space, your speed drops. As the ability of one race, it might be a little unbalancing. But if it were some common affect, it would change some of how the game is played in my mind at least. If it could be setup that maybe when you are in the territory of a race you are at war
Not sure if these are bugs or items that still need some work, but wanted to point out a few things I have noticed so far. -- DreadLords as an opponent. My first game and I ended up with the DreadLords as a regular opponent in the game, but they appeared to have none of the bonuses that make them a threat. But still have some of the 'special' characteristics. Their armies consisted of single troops, as opposide to thousands. You could not 'see' or spy on their planets. And no combat bon
I have not seen anything about this, so not sure if something like this is already in or planned, but can we have a better fleet management screen? I am talking about the galaxy level screen that you can view all your ships in. To be honest, the one that is in now, sucks. I would like to see something more like what they had in Master of Orion II. A decent screen that showed an aproximate location of your fleet and an overview of the ships in the fleet.
Hmm, Some type of planet to planet missle as a stragetic weapon would be interesting. You could build a launch base on your planet, or use the starport, and build a single missile at a time. Once the missile built you have to launch it, no keeping extras in reserve. Target would be planets only. The missile would show as a tiny ship on the main screen and move at a pace of 5pc/turn or something like that. You would have the chance to intercept and shoot it down, if you see it c
I agree with a couple points here. 1: Better upgrade system with planetary improvements. This would have at least 3 parts. a: the ablility to choose not to automaticly upgrade a factory or whatever on discovering the new technology. b: being able to choose at a later date to 'upgrade all factories'. c: being able to put older building on tiles. 2: better fleet management on a empire wide scale. DivineWrath , are you obseleting ships one at a time or some
For your question about the ships left over after a battle. It is based on the number of troops you have remaining. For example: if you have 3 combat transports each carrying 1000 troops and you invade a planet and have 2500 troops left over, you will have 2 ships. If you ended up with 1999 troops left, you will have one ship. And then the extra 999 people become your population. Personally I design my ships to carry 3 to 4 thousand troops, depending on it I had been
Ah, neutral only. I had missed that detail. I choose good for this game so that would explain it. Thanks for the info.
I might be a little confused, but wanted to check something. When you researched Xeno Ethics, where you have to choose an alignment, you would get all planet tiles upgraded for free. In the newest game I am playing, ver 1.3, I did not see that happen. I don't see any notes about it in the change log. Is anybody esle seeing this? Or have any ideas?
Maybe it is just me, but I have noticed in many of my games that the AI's rarely make an alignment choice, I.E. research 'Good and Evil'. I mean it seems to give good bonuses, all tiles available on planets, extra technologies and other perks, but the AI seems to rarely take advantage of it. And because it does seem to rarely choose an alignment, it kills some of the benefits that you could get from that, I.E. better relations with similar alligned races and the special build
I am using Kryo's Ship Mod and had built several designs I liked. Started with blank hull jewels and worked my way up from there. When I started a new game, I choose a different base model ship line. I am not seeing the ship designs I had made, of course. Is there a way to 'transfer' those designs to another base model line? Thanks.
WTF? I accidently hit submit too soon and missed about half the post I wanted to make. Now it won't let me edit it. Maybe because another person has posted after me? Bah, I don't feel like retyping the rest of it right now. Would rather return to playing. And thanks for the info Nakor. I heard the colonizing was a possible option for DA, but did not see if it was going in.
I just wanted to add my 3cents to this as well. I realize as well that any and all changes that are suggested depend a lot on future expansions and games, but I just wanted to put my 'wish list' out as well. The first two options are easy enough, territory and colonizing new planets. For colonizing, I would like to have a system closer to the orginal MOO, needing to develop certain technologies in order to colonize certain types of planets. With my personal play style, I am n
Maybe I am just missing something obvious, but is there a way to bomb a planet from orbit? I find it a pain sometimes to have to invade every planet with troops. Is there a way to just use a fleet and blow every living thing off a world?
Now that is an idea eravenheart , having two different things for cutural/ social influence and political influence. Social influence would be a lot more flexable, changing with the times. The political influence would be the so called borders of the empire where you could restrict travel and keep others from building bases. I like.
I too would like a 'get out of my space' option in diplomancy. Also, would be nice to have some type of 'respect our borders' treaty you could sign with races. When you sign the treaty you are restricted from moving into and/or building things in the other's space. And let there be an option that if you do move in, the next turn or so a diplomancy screen pops up where you have the option to break the treaty, pay a penality or something like that.
I have the same beef here EarthSquirrel. Looks like your score was cut in half when you submitted your 6th game, same thing has just happened to me. I had a score of 38375 after 5 games and just added a new one, 9K. Now instead of a total score of 47375, I have a score of 23687. I just want to know if there is going to be break points like this every 5 games? Besides, it seems to be a dumb way of keeping the scoring down. If you want to make it interesti
I like the idea of any Metaverse game you start is saved on the Stardock systems and thus 'has' to be reported, win or lose. Don't really care about the CRTL-N, say as long as you use it in the first year of game play. That should give you plenty of time to decide if you want to stick through the game. There should be bonuses for playing harder levels, etc. But I guess part of this is somewhere along the line, the whole Metaverse scoring system should mean something. Like
Hey folks, I have a question, and if the answer is no, I would like to know if it could be a possible addition to the modding ability of version 1.2. Is it possible to add custom ship models WITHOUT over-writing some of the models already there? I am tweaking with ideas on a custom race and would like them to have their own custom ships as well. But I also like to have the game randomly select my opponents and I don't want to change the ships that they use. Do we know
Thanks for the responses. I was planning on playing one game with each race anyway, and have not played a custom race in Metaverse yet, so I will find out if it takes a custom race to get the medal.
Looking at some of the medals other people have listed under their names I have come across one that is labeled as 'Racial Victory'. For example, Wyerleader has one. How do you get that medal? Most of the others you can figure out easy enough, but that one is a question in my mind. Thanks.
