I've been getting this problem as well. Using 1.80g, generally a large galaxy with uncommon planets and common habitable worlds. It happens during an auto save or a quicksave fairly often near the late game phase.
Thanks. Good to know that I can basically ignore tile bonuses for research when playing an all factory game.
I was wondering how the math behind the bonuses (race, tile, resource, etc)worked as it applies to the all factory strategy (or conversely, the all labs strategy). My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) was the formula was something like this: (pp*.25)*(Tile Bonus+Resource Bonus+Race Bonus+Event Bonus)=total rp for a given factory My game experience seems to contradict my understanding, but I'm not 100% sure.
I name my designs based off the naming scheme I learned when playing Master of Orion (the original) and seeing it used in the strategy guide. First I use a letter for the hull size followed by the speed. Example: A small ship with a warp drive - S4. Then I use one of 2 naming strategies. If the ship is purely a non-combat ship, I name it for its purpose. Example: A colony ship built on a cargo hull with 2 Ion Drives - C3 Colony. For armed ships, I use the total attack
Adding territorial borders would be a good idea *if* there were diplomatic options available for free trade (allows freighters/constructors/colony ships to cross borders freely), non-agression pacts (allows warships to cross freely). Also, crossing a border should not automatically be a declaration of war, but lower the relationship for each violation. Colonizing a world inside another's border could cause the offending race to pay a steep cost to purchase the world or start a war.
If you think the grammar/spelling police are bad here, try taking a look at Democratic Underground. When faced with any challenge of their ideas, they start the nit picking with spelling and grammar, then on to personal assaults, then get posters banned. This is tame in comparison.
