What about in DA?
Demonic Spoon
.... Look at the troop numbers for the Yor.
Now I understand WHY the Yor beat my invasion force...
What do flagships do?
I can confirm that it's still a problem in beta 4.
Yeah. In my game (normal) The Torians have, literally, 1/4 of the gigantic size galaxy, and it's pissing me off. I recently acquired a great deal of territory (killed off the insectoids). I can't have anyone go to war with them, since everyone loves the Torians...fortunately, I am kicking everyone's ass with regards to technology. If they piss me off too much, I can send some of my super-advanced battlecrusiers in to trim 'em a bit. I just
NO! As it is, espionage cannot be countered. If you could reliably steal techs like that, then there would be absolutely no point in teching up...just wait for others to do it for you. Late game, once espionage hits advanced, you don't even need to spend money on it anymore. It's more than a big enough bonus to be able to see everything they have.
There are 2 types of starbase military upgreades. Defense for the starbase includes Battlestations, etc...stuff that gives the starbase itself an attack/defense value. These can be added to ANY starbase, and means that the starbase can fight back if attacked. Assist modules can only be added to military starbases, but give a bonus to every one of your ships in the radius.
Doesn't that mean I could also put one near my planets and just let it expand? Also, if I put one near my borders, and I expand so that the border is no longer within the range of the starbase, it will STILL get the bonus, right?
Double post
Question... Does your border have ot actually extend into their planet... That is, can I only take an enemy planet if it is within my territory? Or I can I stick an influence starbase in their territory, not even in range of the border, and still take their planets? Also, will an influence starbase placed like that affet the border?
Well, I think the system works pretty well. A big slow ship is not going to be able to fly to one area, fight, then fly to many others to fight in a short amount of time. A fast ship could.
Building superprojects/trade goods, etc... Also, later on, you get some damn big ships, and the only way to get them out at a reasonable speed is to use huge production planets. My home planet has some decent industry, and can produce a basic constructor in 4 weeks...it takes 10 weeks for my improved constructor. COnversely, my industrial planet takes 2 weeks to crank out improved contructors. You can imagine how useful this is wh
Never played GalCiv 1, but this doesn't seem like a great idea... One, it would take thousands of nukes, really, to take out the whole world (maybe hundreds, but still, a lot). Two, it really be kinda unbalanced being able to obliterate their cities from space.
They do. Ships target the weakest target first, which is sure as HELL not your starbase. As such, the starbase will be the last thing they attack
They should, really...otherwise it's be completely lame.
so...I should have put them inside their territory?
Okay..I'm trying to convert some planets, for two reasons 1) I have some bonuses to influence... 2) I am getting my ass kicked in every other way. So far, I've put up some influence starbases around my border-3. They each have (or will have very soon) 200+ influence. I am wondering, how effective is this? Do I have a prayer of actually succeeding with this, or no?
Okay...I just started playing, and I'm confused by the difficulty. I started my first game with the tutorial's recommendations (sub-par intelligence, 3 factions, beginner difficulty). I couldn't keep up to the other races as far as tech, etc. goes (maybe I wasn't trading enough?), but I absolutely crushed them militarily...they never formed fleets at all until later on, in which I still crushed them. The only battle I ever lost (after obliterating the
