I want a game where it's easy for a player to get stuck because of range limitations and where you have to fight over planets so you can extend your empires range. right now, it seems like range is not strategic at all. Any suggestions for a scenario setup or setting that will give me this?

Is there a way to mod the range scaling and eliminate the precursor megaevent? I remember MOO also..and the fun of having turf wars over otherwise insignificant planets really was a ton of fun.

Is it possible to reduce the range of starships in a text file? It's really puzzling why the designers would make it so large relative to even the largest galaxy settings. I don't mind starbases being used as extenders as they can be taken out pretty easily however I'd like to see some kind of requirement on starbases perhpaps being within X range of an occupied planet or some sort of penalty being exercised or the range it gives you being cut by some %. almost like island hop

I like playing on worlds where expansion is constrained by habitable planets and large spaces in between worlds to make exploration and colonization difficult. I.e. huge universe and rare planet settings. I'm hoping to force a game where you have to fight over key planets in order to get the range to expand. However I've found the range of ships is so easy to scale up it really makes no difference. It seems like ship range is really not as relevant or interesting as it could

Hi, I got those nifty stylish Klingon ships wokring in the regular game. But I tried the metaverse and it appears the files need to be in a different place. I really like using the ships--it's big fun coming in with those Klingon ships. But do I need to copy the files somewhere else?

Well I am trying to figure out if it has implications for whether you should specialize or not. for example on a research planet is it better to have a larger mix of factories or just go 99% labs. my gut is specialization over the long run is more effective since your total maximum output should be larger. But boy it's pretty convoluted.

I am wondering this as well. For example if you have a planet with only research labs but you are at 100% military. what happenes. are you still charged for the labs? is the amount spent in the slider wasted? Or if you have a mix of everything. and you put 100% military but there are no social or military projects. what happens then.
