I definitely buy you all a few rounds at a local pub if that was feasible. (I'm not close to Michigan, sorry ) It's the thought that counts, right ? Oh, wow. They're only a few miles away from me. If they want to meet me at Malarkey's... I'll buy 'em the rounds for you. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmil

You know... I kinda agree with you. In my last game (Tough setting, Giant galaxy), my Civ was small and poor, but I had 2 Influence starbases. I maxed them out, then scouted enemy territory for more influence bases. I found three more. I traded everything I had for two of them, and the third belonged to the Dark Yor, so I just blew that one up, and conquered it (since it was far past mid-game, and the Dark Yor did nothing to re-inforce it).
The Beta 4. Beta 3 seemed to work better for me.
Ten minutes ago, I loaded an auto-save. It's still loading. A couple days ago, when I DL'd the latest Beta, everything was fine. I played 2 full games (Giant map) with minimal problems, and fast loads. Now... the game slows down a lot. My first auto-save, and quick save takes about 3-5 minutes each. Turns are also slowed down. This lasts for a while, then it seems to pick back up again.
Heh heh... can we ask what the difficulty level was? It was on Challanging. I've since moved to Tough, and I'm not going back. The game is a little better now, but the same rules apply: Pump Influence with tech, and Wonders, and aquire Influence star bases by all means nescessary. <
I'm finding it terribly easy to win Culture Victories. Pretty much all it takes is ownership of 3 maxed-out (needs the Industry tech line) Influnce Mining bases, and a maxed-out influence tech line. I won my last game (gigantic map, 7 enemies) without firing a shot. It took me about 5 total hours to go from one planet, to 85% coverage of the galaxy.
What a waste! Loading a PQ26 with expensive factories is a big no-no. You should make those into economic powerhouses, instead of an economic drainage. 10 factories?! Your governor's deficit must put the Bush administration's spending ability to shame. It's much easier on your
I'd like to see Heros that give bonuses, ala MOO2 (please not the MOO3 hero system!). Perhaps a purchase system for the heros, instead of them randomly showing up at your door step. And a built-in alarm... so I know when to stop wasting my life, and get something constructive done for the day.
