Well i like JonnyEntropy plan idea but as for junking the Shipdesign, it would be simple to fix while keeping it intact: First make a ship designer sandbox off the main menu, you get access to all hulls and jewerly.. no weapons/engines etc. so you can make them look cool then jsut slap weapons and stuff on em when you play. Second make it so if you quick the ship designer mid design it remains that way next time you come in. That way if you finish early you can spec out th

Hey nothing wrong with freighter with a truck load of weapons on it. as long as it has enough firepower to smite whatever its fighting on the first round it works like a charm! well i assume that once the mod folder is up and running the authors would simply name all their ships unique names that would eventually fall into a convention.. ie S99_pharacon_tiny1, S99_pharacon_tiny2... etc etc then they would whip up and package with their models a xml file that would be parked in the mod/pharacon folder. then the game would use this when selected... as for where to download the models, check the library for downloads.

ok pounding away at mounting points! if i just place a point in max, checking absolute rotation its 0,0,0. then if i apply 180 to Y, which should flip it upside down, gives an absolute value 0,-180,0 and then move it down to the lower portion of the model. Hey all i'm power ahead with my tiny hull, using excellent advice i had been able to get it into the game so i can see it! Woohoo!!! Now it has a bunch of dummies on it already so i can see the mounting points but when i attach ANYTHING to the mounting points the whole model disappears and whatever i put on it appears in its place. What we need to do is get 9 different modellers to make the star bases. give each on a different race and then have them make it. This way the starbases come out completly different, plus once you get the core done on each starbase adding the next 3 steps is ez. I think after i get all the bugs worked out my little tiny hull i'm working on i think i will take on the Korx starbases, i think i will go for a capitalist theme.. kinda like blade

Hey if taking out a vastly superior frace i always start by aiming below the belt! the industry button on the map is your friend! Take out 2 or three of their biggest industry centers and they will be screwed! Also take out their home world is a real crippling blow! It zooms in unless tehy spread up. You can also use different camera modes to get different views but normally i just leave it on Top down 1. I just love a fleet logistic 40 with a bunch of tiny hulls! strap some missles on them and fast movement rate and you have nothing to fear but fear itself!
I will agree with lower your taxes to get the bonuses is the best! i use to try to balance max tax vs max effeciency in my production. and i was having issues with my planets flipping. After reading about this on the forums i tried out dropping my tax from 70 to 30 percent... at first i didnt see the point i was strapped for cash my production went south but my peons where happy :\ But about 10 to 20 rounds later i was rolling in the dough my effecienc

So i think this is a no go as Stardock would have animated parts of ships if it was possible. Buuuut is it possible to animate parts of ship models? Like have a rotating dish jewelery? or had a base that rotates and everything attached to it roates with it? Also can you make a new base hull type, instead of the defaults? Like have the defaults plus your that you create, seems to be everyone is just subbing models out for custom ones.<br
yeah this is confusing me too, i thought you could like label one ship as your Flagship their by making it cooler or fast or something... but then i realized that the little survey ship you star out with is nothing but a name label . Too bad you couldnt label a ship as the Flagship maybe get a sensor bonus or +1 to speed or something.. maybe had a neg effect on all

I like the 1 page better! but they are both nice. I think this will appeal to people who buy game mags, i gave up reading them a long time ago when all the games they rate as a MUST BUY! usually sucked! But they are real nice, keep up the good work SD!
i find that on my ships i always have all armor types of a value of at least 1. like if i'm fighting a race that likes beam weapons then i go heavy on the shields and 1 armor and 1 chaff. I do this because the square root of 1 is 1, so i always get two points of damage right off the top whenever my ships get hit! Then my beefed up armor kicks in and takes a big punch out of whatever else is coming at it. I normally have ships that are getting 0 damage

Maybe its the whole publish it yourself thing this game has. PS: I dig the new features in the betas my ships now look super snazy! just wish the medium hull for alteran style mount points where fixed. but other then that no complaints! <br
