@Infoceptor There have been lots of discussions on this, but you've sort of come to the same conclusion as those threads did. Pre 1.2 first strike was everything, and defence was inferior because everything was geared to killing the enemy before they got a shot off. Then they changed the combat to always return fire. People said Defence would benefit, actually logistics was the thing to benefit... I could type the math but I'm not sure how many people would read,

Has this thread really lain dormant for 3 months? Good read... I don't create colony ships about one game in 3. It is fun not having to colony rush. Gives you time to attack while others go through the motions.

The ai is ok, but could be better. The campaign seems to have really strange AI and is either v difficult or v simple, depending on the version, a bit of luck and what day it is. The difficulty setting don't really work on the campaign at all. What version are you running? The later versions have much better AI. For a typical (winable) game try crippling, medium sized galaxy, everything abundent with no tech trading, 4-5 opponents (include the drengin, yor and torians as the

Master U No one has more points per game on medium than you do. The gigantic maps allow huge populations... not sure how you've managed such high ones on medium.

Sorry Master U I can't see how that adds up. I've played almost clones of what you are suggesting, I play 70% boost to pop, Build Aphrodisiac asap, even play Universalists and the pop does not grow that quickly. Either you've found a bug or you are purposely breaking something. How many planets have you got on your medium map? There is a limit of 100M people on each planet (and getting up that high is really tricky as you need 100% approval to keep the growth going).

You asked for our MV strategies... which I tried to answer as well as I could. You've obviously found a way to score that no one else has. So how are you doing it?

@Quixen Good post. Evil rocks in this game.

@Master U You don't need weapon techs early on just planetary invasion. During "planet grab" the AI rarely if ever defends planets and you can turn out transports while others are turning colony ships out... That way you plan to get there second and take over a half or fully built planet. Again boosting your economy. Try to keep track of the order the AI colonizes and work through their planets in the same order... Get there too early and there is nothing to steal. Get there too late

Most important thing to know is what map size... If you want help on medium maps I can try and give advice but I know that each map size plays very differently and therefore the priorities change. The guys scoring 200K a shot are all on gigantic. I'm more 20-30K on medium. Any of this may be wrong. However this is what I believe is true. From what I can gather the scoring is really crude... It is based on 1. population (look at getting pop growth as a starte

I just got mine... all nice and shiny it is... P.s. You don't need to do the custom race to getthe medal. I seem to remember someone on here asking that a few weeks back.

Tis my niece. Lovely girl... Guess the euphoria has dies down now... This metaverse thing is v strange. I can have 2 almost identical games... where one scores almost twice the other.... Wish I knew what I was doing.

I'm top of the medium universe players!!! For today at least. Don't think I've ever been top of the world, no matter how many conditions/filters have been applied! This Mv thing is addictive. I know my scores will age away... but at least I'm top of something for a day at least. How many others of you can filter enough to be top? I bet a fair few! Well I'm off to bed a v happy boy...

@purge ta. @Jimmyb2 I did change my mind and post a single game. Since which I talked to unf about what he is doing. He is just a bright boy who has a regimented way of playing. No exploits really. I guess there are people out there who are prepared to spend a heck of a lot of time to get great scores... I don't think I am.

So why are you letting yourself get drawn in,Marcathonas? Just leave threads like this one. I don't think Tbay is "clogging" the forum too badly. In fact the forum is quiet really. I read more or less all new posts in about 10mins a day. I know you are mature for your age but I think you are perhaps letting it get to you too much. P.S. Are you helping unfunf? Is it as mindlessly boring as he claims?

Meglobob Sorry I guess I forgot to say I'm only using this thread to guess what the exploits on the Metaverse are. I've heard about players claiming 200K-300K games completed within 4 game years on gigantic Universes. I've no reason to doubt their truthfulness, just wondered what sort of mindless exploit they could be using. As I said I've played prob 30-40 games and haven't been bothered to submit one. My scores are pityful - around 25-30K. I play on conques

I love a lively debate. I forgot to say that I would increase the movements of the engine techs upwards. I think movement of say 15 or 16 works ok in the game (as this is sensor range)... when it gets to 45 or 50 it just gets silly. If I was responsible for the AI my transports would have maximum movement... So you'd end turn being ok and dead before you moved next... How would you like that? Anyway, thanks for the comments, especially onlyanegg. Nice to kn
