Thanks for the replies! MOIISKA: I dig your enthusiasm, but I'm not sure if this idea could ever get implemented, given the time constraints, etc. Nice to know that I wouldn't be the only one who would enjoy something like this! *Grins* CariElf: I wholeheartedly understand; this idea is for more of a click+create modeling system than anything else--the fact that you can already incorporate your own models is awesome in and of itself. Thanks for taking the time

As I read the changelist to the most recent update today, I began to think of a total conversion mod I'd like to work on and realized that there would be one limitation--models. The idea I had was for a mecha-based TC. I've made several models and noticed in our forum that others have created some as well. My approach, in terms of 'mecha components' and jewelery, would be like that of the PSX game Armored Core and the lovely Mechwarrior series, but acquiring these things GalCiv styl
I just won a game where the tech victory was made possible by those bad-boys. What you have to do is upgrade buildings / build the neutral research centers manually. They're worth 22 research points a piece, I believe, as opposed to the discovery sphere which is like 18, or something around there. I didn't realize that I had them until I conquered a planet that wasn't fully-developed. They're worth the investment, though.
This option would definitely help out the lower-end guys like me: scene-free planetary invasions. While I think they're awesome to look at, it takes several minutes on my computer to load up the planetary invasions, especially when I'm a few hours deep. I noticed that there's options for less graphic-intensive ship combat (going so far as to make it instantaneous) so I'm just wondering if it'd at all be possible to similarly simplify planet
Congrats! You guys deserve it!
