Influence makes the game fun for me as I don't like games that force me to have to battle with ships to win every game. I have found the same but only on planets that were doing that to counter my influence of planets and stations. I have seen AI opponents counter a rebellion by buying mulitiple empassies. If you have a bigger military and are assimilating planets then the AI has little choice on how to fight you so they build embassies as thats all they have got and it als
In my current game since the Torians had a military equal to my own and a huge domain I decided it was safer to assimilate them that fight a costly war with them. It came down to me having almost half the map and the other races paying me tributes (always a good sign that they won't attack me) and the Torians being smothered to death in my influence. Then I got the random event that the Torian Leader had been killed and they blamed me and the new leader delared war on me. No problem..
I reasearch sensors now all the way to get the structure "Eyes of the Universe" so that I can see all ships on the map so I can have fleets waiting for an attacking fleet to arrive and kill them before they get anywhere near a target.
Yes I was in a game and the damn Yor crushed me like a bug while I was pinned by them in the corner of the map.
Yeah, I had moral problems before but now I am at 80% tax and 99-100% approval and actually had a 100% vote in the star federation. I am getting about 2,500 bc a turn now. I don't like playing on maps with abundant stars as it kinda makes expansion not as crucial. I like having occasional settings so there are plenty of planets to build on but you need to expand to grow your boarders since some are further away from others.
Since I just assimilated the Torians with Influence alone I will tell you what I know for certain. **Influence starbases generate influence around them. I assimilated a Torian planet off in the corner way outside my influence area of any planets and you can see a "hole" cut it the opponents area of influence as you upgrade it the "hole" grows in size. **It doesn't bolsters your planets influence BUT it does counter opponents influence of your planets. These are t
When I see a ranger I buy it as it will cost me more to try and kill it. lol
I have seen several people (or the same guy several times. ) boasting how he can make 20,000 bc per turn easy. Now my question is how? I have been playing on large maps and my best is 800 bc per turn. Am I missing something are these people talking about Huge Maps with tons of habital planets?
it was a fleet of three medium frigates with okay weopons, but the AI's and i were floating through space with fleets of battleships. no contest. Consider yourself Lucky. I caught pirates killing my my frieghters along a trade route so I sent a fleet of 3 Medium Cruisers to take them out. My fleet was killed almost instantly. The pirates I enco
I used to be starting every game with Beams and just stick with that. More recently I have seen most people saying to go with mass drivers up to the Nano Ripper. I have tried the Nanoripper and it is great. It seems Missiles take to much room and Beams to little damage but you can put a ton opn a ship. Whats the Consenus on the best path for weapons?
When you make the choice then you get bonuses dependent on what you chose which are pretty damn good bonuses.
Economics and Dilpomacy both maxed out or as close as possible is all you need for any game. With Economics you can buy the stuff you need from ships to buildings to bribing AI's to attack other AI's. With Diplomacy you can more likely get AI's to do your bidding plus you get more stuff in tech trades. Also lets you talk your way out of wars till you are ready. I find with the above abilities I can adapt and excel regardless of how the game goes.
The problem I have with that is it means you HAVE to use military to get them and I thought the game was suppose to be able to be won by any number of means. I don't mind them being expensive to buy from the AI but they shouldn't be impossible to buy as that limits your options.
Well, hmmm.....if overpopulation is a problem then why build farms?
So the bigger the population the harder it is to keep high approval rating? Why is that?
Before the patch if another race had a resource I wanted I would just buy it from them for around 5000 bc. It seems that since the patch they will not sell for any price. I tried 47,000 bc and was turned down. Is this a change or a bug?
I had a similar problem and my solution was to look at the graphs at the bottom of the screen for military power. I would research up to lasers early. I custom made some cheap fighters. No engine, no armor but 2 weapons. Then ehrn I see a race start to build up or when I didn't need any other ships built I started to build them to always stay on top of the list in military strength and then get working on medium hulls. You don't "NEED" a military but if you don't have one or a small o
I have been steadily improving my game as I continue playing. I can now build up a healthy economy and have enough military to prevent attacks on me and do great in trade and diplomacy and research. The only area I am lacking is morale. In my current game I have 64% approval. Not bad but could be much better. The thing that concerns me is that evey game I play my homeworld always had the worst approval rating even with 3 entertainment centers and my taxes are only at 33%. Other planet
I saw some enemy transports coming to a planet which I had forgot to get a warship in orbit so I bought 1 but they hit the planet on that turn and took it. When I came to take it back they had "MY" custom warship in orbit. Is that working as intended?
When a race declares war on me, I never relent, regardless how how much they beg for peace. Chances are, if they're going to declare war against me every time they think they have something over me, there's no point in maintaining any peace with them at all. And I especially loathe the Acreans. If they declare war on me, regardless of whether or not my empire can maintain
As I have found out the Ai plays like a human sometimes. If you and a race are friends and you are weak they will crush you as you are easy pickens and will increase their domain.
I made some cheap ships that I could produce 1 every 2 weeks with several planets pummping them out. It did keep the Ai off me and has given me time to build up other non military tech. One thing that surprised me was I started the military build up race and was far ahead of the other races. I decided that the 2nd and 3rd most powerful races should fight it out to weaken them both. So I paid the the Altarian's to attack the Thalan's. Well i
what techs do I need to get the Spin Control Center?
