Well, DA creates a *racename*.custom file for each of the races I create. If I rewrite the lines in this file I can affect the created race in the game. My question still remains...is it better to work based upon this file, or the raceconfig.xml rather than in DA directly?

What line in the race.custom file governs the amount of ab.point the created race can spend? And should I create the race from the race.custom file, rather than creating it inside the game by adjusting the ab.points?
Ok, thanks for the help
Ok, and I'll need to back-up the original xml files, in case I want the game restored?
Doing this by a graphical interface would be more "user-friendly" though
Sweet, I didn't know that.
I would like to see some greater variation possibilities when it comes to race-creation. Why not make the limit for ab.points optional? To make a race unique requires drastic alterations of the abilities. This could create imbalance compared to the original races, but as long as created races doesn't interfere with metaverse scores etc, it shouldn't be a problem. I love games where alterations and variations is possible and tweaking this variations to get optimal results (uniqueness, and ye
Yes, I did. I have been playing DA quite alot since the beta release but this is the first time I ran across this kind of error message.
This crash happened when I tried to quit the game; Debug Message: Version beta 1 build 1 last updated on: Wed Nov 15 18:42:55 2006 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. I agree 100% Morberis
I pre-ordered the DA, and have the following question; if the charging on my bank-account doesn't go through (lack of funds, other problemswith bank etc), will I have to pre-order again? The reason I ask this is because I don't want to risk pre-order two DA's and get charged twice.
Allright, thanks for all the help guys! /Pan
Hi! Whenever I start a game, using tiny-medium scaled sizes of the galaxy, the computer beats me during the colonize-phase. No matter how fast I am it seems impossible to attain an equal (or more for that matter) number of planets compared to the computer. Normally I start out in the following manner; I buy a factory and continues by building two spy ships. The spy ships are sent to the nearest systems. Then I colonize the low-q planet in my own system and continues to build additional
I checked my regional settings, and it was set to english. This was done to prevent a bug which came with the beta prior to this (graphical issues with planetslots). I tried to switch the reg. settings back to swedish again...and voilá! It worked. Thanks for the help! /Pan
Hi, I have encountered some problems when I try to name a new (or updated) ship. For example; I create my ship, adding the pieces I want, then I save it. After that I name it and writes a short description of it. Its here the trouble starts, the game tells me that certain symbols are not allowed. Even though I named it something ordinary like Lance or Scimitar, the message error is still there. The only solution I have found is to name it using only two letters...like fe, or ge or something like
I am using the patch released two weeks ago. /Pan
Hi When I try to save the game with the same name as my created race, the game disregards my save. For example, my race is called "Celes", and when saving I name the savefile "Celes". The next time I start the game the savefile doesn´t exist anymore. But if I name the savefile something else, the savefile is there. Any ideas on this? BTW, I use the beta patch 1.3 /Hardfeldt
Yes thx, that worked.
I did notice something too, the surface view of the planets has gone white and the tiles (building slots) are lined up. Another strange thing has happened to the ship building window. Red triangles appears from nowhere when I add modules to the ship. Perhaps its related to my graphic card drivers, but I did update them a couple of weeks ago so...
Thanks the "show pre-release" option was not checked so that did the trick. I have nothing better to do at the moment, so I can just as well check out the beta patch
Hi all! I have some problems downloading the 1.3 patch. As I understood it, the patch can be accessed at stardock, but somehow I cant find it there... Any ideas, or have I mistaken the release date? /Pan
