I don't use any feature of 8 that requires my email. I still use office 07 and just port my isp and gmail accounts into outlook. If you use Start8, you wo'nt ever be using metro anyway. I don't believe ive used a metro app in months, so no need to mess with the native client. In fact i never have, i have no email registered to it at all. Grab Thunderbird as your email client?
Neilo
Dont write off Win8 just yet. I use it and with just a few bucks worth of Stardock products you would never know its not win7 till you look under the hood. Start8 is worth every penny, brings back start menu and more importantly allows you to boot direct to desktop. I have not seen the metro screen in weeks. This way it looks like 7, but i have all the under bonnet goodness that win8 brings to the table. Best 5 bucks (iirc) i ever spent. I' ll check out Egosoft
Hehe Embird...yeah i lurk about from time to time. I dont think a GC3 is cost effective for SD these days. The fact they have sought rights to another space game kind of sounds the death knell for GC i guess. Though i couldnt be happier if i were to be proved wrong. Hate to say it but i think Abbot will cruise to a victory...gilliard killed the labor party's chances id say.
Hey!!! Been a while!!!! you got the NBN in your area already!! I'm in Newcastle ans still waiting....provided Abbot doesn't get in and ruin it all! I don't think any of us are still playing, lest not in any serious way. I fire the game up every few weeks or so and mess about, no MV games though... I read that Stardock has the rights to the 'ole classic Star Control, so maybe we will fight another day in that realm!?
For any old heads reading, i started playing some shits and giggels games the other day. I was trying to create the weakest race i possibly could and see how i could go in winning the game, no cheese plays at all. Wiped out 3 times already....will try again after i install Win8. Been fun though...

Hiya Mumble..Hey KP..Happy New Year to you both!!! Well, i can say that the ToE never used this tactic, since as Mumble said we knew not of it. In fact this is the first i have heard about it, and it finally explains to me some of the uber scoring i have seen. To me this seems to be another flawed game mechanic that we all would have exploited the crap out of. Doesn't seem too much different to using an ARC. That being said...yeah, who cares. This is not the wor

Good sir. The last reply in this thread was in 2008. The MVL has long ago run it's course. Many (read that as near all) of the old players have moved on... Sorry mate, but you're about 4 years too late. :)
There is a game choice that gives all techs at the start of the game, I'm not familiar with it's name, but if this was selected and Tech victory was also selected as a winning condition, might this result in an instant win? I myself never did mess with any of those settings so others may shed more light. Hey SB! I didn't take Brads words to literal....just fanning the flames i think... Damn the Templar and his random comments......."A worthy opponent!"
W.O.W.
Adds in forums now SD....come on.....
Yup, thats odd. But meh....
I can't imagine speed being a good enough reason to let google have more chances to sneak a look at my net print. (proudly posted with FF, since 2002.)
Ah yes. I remember now. There was another name that posted unattainable scores so I just assumed that was who you meant. In all reality I could have looked up the name easily enough since IIRC I authored the thread you're talking about, but it's not really worth the effort.
Your right, it's not, just thought id clarify who Harborne was,
Harborne did nothing with score, it was Spacetimer...and another name i do not recall. Harbone cheated with the sue of multiple characters tied to one registration. something like 12 characters to the normal three. His scores were nothing. And AFAIK, the checksums did not show a hex edit prior to 2.0. One could simply hex the score value and be done with it. At 2.0 Cari put in place a check to see if the file had been hexed, no matter what the edit was. I'm a bit fuz
I have no idea what your saying sorry. All i can do is repeat myself, but since i really could care less if Harbourne came back and dropped in a 3M+ ZYW that didn't flag i'll just forget it. Seriously, not being an ass, i do not understand your questions/comments.
I don't play any ZYW's anymore. (and i still maintain that a "typical" ZYW ends on April 8.) I'm interested still in the mechanics of high scoring games, but they don't qualify as fun for me, and that's what i want out of GC2 these days.. :) Oh and Mina, Maiden666's game is flagged. Just fyi. If we are counting flagged games i can have a 5M+ ZYW done in about 1 hour...done it before, just never bothered subbing it. (Also 10M+ 1 year ga
Yeah ok. I'm not interested in playing one, just wondered what was different.
Can anyone give me the idea behind this strat?
The one thing I want for GC3 is a Mod Metaverse.
Agreed. We tried to do something like this with the MVC just after the Altmeta was done, but by then the community had already subsided. Love to see it happen in GC3, but at this point, i'd settle for GC3 in any form. Perhaps after FE fails they might visit GalCiv again.
