Mailed customer service, and what they gave me to work with worked with this exact problem... after a fashion... Anyway, if you want to play, the best thing to do is start up the game in CHEAT mode, then use the control+U cheat to reveal the entire galaxy before you save. Then the computer won't "create hidden surface" and it you can play somewhat normally. (If you want to be surpised about the universe... I guess just don't look... I guess not so great advice). Well, I went back to 1.0x, it worked fine, and then to 1.1... and it was broken again... though it worked a few times... Seems it just gets really slow every time it saves... I've seen it done during quick save, autosaves, and manual saves... so anyway to get back to 1.0x from 1.1?
Bump. At this point, I'm thinking of just uninstalling the game again and reverting to 1.0x. Can I do this without uninstalling?

The problem is simply this: with the latest version of the beta, my save times are enormous... for example, I used quick save on the first turn, waited ten minutes, took a SHOWER, came back at least fifteen minutes later, and it was STILL saving. I tried remedying this by reinstalling a game, and did an experiment; if I save in the exact same way for the original version... saving is fine. Well, here's the problem: One, the cinematic movies (the opening/retiring movie/tutuorials) begin to play, but freeze/play extremely slowly. That's not too much of a problem though as I can click through them and after a few seconds the game responds and skips over it. I try to fix this, though, by updating my drivers (I know part of the problem is that my computer is heavily fragmented, though I haven't been able to get it to a r
