Can anyone tell me where I can find more detailed information on the various tech-trees with the latest expansion? I've just recently purchased it, and while it is very interesting, I have no idea what the different techs are in each. Some info on the new buildings would be great too.

I've had the same problem, and sent the debug.err file to them three times. I can't send the smart exception file, as it never registers as having been a problem when this error happens. They have responded one time to my e-mail, that being to update to 1.6a when I had the problem with 1.6. That didn't help either. They haven't even acknowledged receiving my lastest e-mail regarding the problem. Has anyone looked at their debug.err and seen the last thing being a random event? That is what

From the debug.err, it appears that I am still having problems with the random events... I turned off the mega-events and it allowed me to play DA previously. I just updated to 1.6 and decided to try another game. I didn't even get 3 years into the game... Ok, it's been over a month now since I sent an e-mail to the gc2bugs, and I have yet to receive a response. Is there someone who could at least tell me roughly how long it will be until I get a response? Even if it's 'We have no idea,' at least I would know that someone had looked at it rather than consigning it to the ether...

So, how long does it take to get a substantive response to an e-mail sent to the gc2bugs address? I tried the save game that was giving my laptop fits on my more powerful desktop when I got home, and it is doing the same thing at the exact same point in the game. That infers that the problem is with the game, not the machine.

The buffer overrun message is as quoted above, I'm not sure that the SmartException is working correctly, the 'Help' button doesn't do anything at all... Not sure what you mean as far as more details, nothing that isn't in the debug.err.

Ok, now I have smartexception running when I started DA, but when it crashed, nothing came up, and there is nothing in the SmartException folder with a .cra extension... I seriously hope that this doesn't mean that I can't get any help for this.

I disabled everything and tried to play, when I ended my turn, I got an error message: A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated. Debug Message: Version v1.50x3 Dark Avatar last updated on: Mon Mar 12 18:37:34 2007 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. Thanks for the advice, but it didn't work. I can't even play one turn on my DA small map any more, but the regular GCII Gigantic map still runs like a champ. Any other ideas? I just got a laptop to take with me while I travel, and installed GCII and had no problems with the game on a gigantic map. I finally broke down and bought DA today, and I get error messages that the buffer is exceeded and the game proceeds to crash. Is DA that much more intensive? How can I increase the buffer? debug.err follows: Debug Message: Version v1.50x3 Dark Avatar last updated on: Mon Mar 12 18:37:34 2007 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. Debug Message: *******

Not sure if anyone else has this, or if it's really a bug, but when I colonize a planet and buy the Starport, the turn will automatically end before I can select what ship to start building there.

Also, if you drop below -500, ALL of your production shuts down until you get into the positives again. I found that out the hard way...

Marcathonas said that it crashed on autosave, but thinking back on this, it crashed right as I was moving a ship, not during an autosave... Any response from Stardock?

6 Replies 3,825 Views

Actually, the 1st one that I don't have the debug.err for, my son had turned off the autosave, I lost 40 minutes of play, so I turned it back on... Thanks for the link to the audio drivers; I hadn't updated them as I have the audio turned off, and there hadn't been any problems running the game until tonight.

I just updated to 1.1 this evening, had been using the beta 4 with no problems at all. Tonight, I have had 2 CTD within an hour. I didn't save the 1st debug.err, but here is the one for the 2nd crash. This is a brand new metaverse game, so I'm guessing that there wouldn't be any problems switching between versions. @ Shalkto - I'd like to say thanks for your insightful response, but since you didn't give one, sorry, I can't. I do wish that people would learn to read the entire post, not just give canned answers. I spoke up because I felt that the initial responses were rather abrupt, and put the statements a little differently. I really do enjoy the game, but people like that are one good argument against multi-player I guess <img src="http://images.stardock

Ok, I have to respond in defense, of a sort, of this guy. Ok, he missed the tutorial. But I agree that there should be more than 'Oh, go to this site to get more information.' That's an Activision type response, which is why I'll never buy an Activision game again. I may be anal retentive, but I like to know 'Why?' things work, not just learn as you play. I understand that I will not play a perfect game on my first outing, but I still like to make

Is this immediately after telling the ship to launch? I've noticed that the planet screen will still show the population from before launching the transport until after you have ordered the planet to build another ship. Once you have ordered the new ship, and go back to the planet screen, the correct population shows in my games.

I guess I finally have to chime in on this topic (just having seen it). Please excuse my ramble. I play both tactical and strategy type games and have for a number of years, and I enjoy both. They are different, and I have yet to see any game that has done both of them well. As far as GalCiv2, I picked this up off the shelf at a game store, and I put it back down after looking it over. It 'looked and sounded' great, but I've been burned too many

On this vein, how does one increase the racial influence? I'm currently play a game,(Gigantic, Normal) started with 9 other civs, but planets that I have captured or colonized that were originally only under my influence are now totally engulfed in another civ's color. This is even with two influence starbases per sector along or slightly on their side of the border, all of them maxed out at 287 influence. The bases have been there for over a year,

Well, for my first post, I'm going to agree with Marcathonas; either build your own, or buy the parts and have someone put it together for you. I just built a system a couple of months ago for $1000: AMD 3200+, 1GB DDR 400 RAM, Nvidia 6600GT video card, a DVD drive and a CD burner, 19" monitor, Windows XP, and a 250GB SATA hard drive. All of the stuff was bought from Newegg.com, their prices are incredible, and you get it within 3 days. I actually
