I have bought the game online, happy about what I expected to be a good work from Stardock. The game is ok. I had a lot fun playing that. However, I bought a new computer because my I can't play in the notebook at maximum settings. I have not Internet at home. Tried offline activation but it does not works. The technical support will not do anything to assist me. In regard to the topic. I will never pay money for anything from you Stardock. Never more! Regards,<b

Hello, The game is ok and I'm somewhat satisfied, but I bought a new computer and cannot play in this notebook anymore. Now please activate my game so I can play in my home computer. I have followed the steps indicated in the Sticky thread about offline activation but I never received a reply. I did that twice and my frustration is get increasingly displeasant. Please, activate my game! Edna

- Diplomacy: * Be able to treat, taunt, apology or beg to a race. * Be able to apply diplomatic pressure: When we ask an opponent the same thing many times he should understand that we REALLY want that. * Be able to set a weekly payment to a race as economic assistence, improving relations. * Be able to manually change diplomatic instance towards another an AI race and give a reason it could understand. * Be able to launch a preemptive or retaliatory att

Very good point Tue, I commonly design and use Transport Ships not as Invasion Vessels but for redistributing people among the colonies. Although I already accepted the fact that at least one population should be put on the ship (a pilot of some sort) I really would appreciate a button to set the population to a minimum because having to carefully change the slide to the minimum and back to one is a real pain specially because those slides don't work well. Hi dear, I think I've seen other requests that SD make the AI something that can be modded but honestly don't think I've seen an official reply about that. If they hadn't planned on making that sort of option available I doubt they would rewrite the entire AI structure just for this sort of thing. So I hope you said *simple* with a bit of sarcasm </TR

I would suggest a "simple" thing to stardock. Expose the data about the game objects to be scripted or even better to be executed by an external dll. Allow that same script to call actions that human players would trigger. Then I will show you what can be made. Thank you for your reply, Cyber. Kisses from me... Edna

Well all I can say is let us know when you write your 4X TBS game with this fantastic *agent* based AI and we'll be sure to look it up. Thanks for you replay, Cyber... finally an inteligent comment. Theor

The AI in GalCiv IS multithreaded Where in my post do I say it is not? I still can't believe that someone... bla bla bla... "great idea" had been used for decades by the same developre. <

As Haasen stated in a previous post in this thread, with a Balance of Power logic "there would be long periods of peace since a smart AI would know that it could never gain a strong advantage over another alliance". The true challenge both for the player and to the CPU would be to get the upperhand and to obtain supremacy over all other races. This would be extremely dificult and In my opinion would be the extase of playing a game like this. If you don't understand th

While this may be true, your computer's CPU can only proccess so many of them each turn. If the AI acutally looked at all these opions at end of each turn, you'd be waiting for 5 minutes each time. I think that FrogBoy said in a recent journal... <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quote-Ta

Hello Haasen, You got the point. there would be long periods of peace since a smart AI would know that it could never gain a strong advantage over another alliance In my opinion this would be nice because that would give time for other nations to develop social, military and research. But as you said, this could become bo

don't want to sound insulting... but is it possible that you have read a bit too much sci-fi novels? (Not that I wouldn't do this of course. I'm just curious.) You don't sound insulting. Your comment and curiosity are both acceptable. I am a software developer for 12 years now and game addicted for the same 12 years. I back m

Beside AI. This game suffers from a serious balancing issue. The opponents are just too strong or too weak. Wins who can advance more quickly in the Research Tree. Seens obvious. If one manages to rush the Tech tree without been treatened by military opposition, is a serious candidate to invincibility. It's hard to play cooperatively because the stronger opponents are never willing to assist the weaker and this goes against what happens in reality. In real International

This is not an excuse. Computer are perfectly capable of learning, identify patterns and think abstractly, and also guess, try, feel frustrated, scared, bored, angry. It's just need to be programmed that way. We are not a long way from that. But generally, who have knowledge do not have the money to implement that. Who have the money is too restrained by the budget constraints. Sorry, it's the truth. Kisses from me... Edna PS: Capitalis

I just read a journal entry from Mr. Big Boss at Stardock and I have to disagree with the information about AI algorithm, CPU times and stuff. I can understand that it is very limiting having to write algorithm that must be executing in timely milisseconds but, but in my humble opinion, more important that produce fast algorithm is to make them time efficient. In the world of multi-threading, much can be made while the player is taking its turn. The AI characters can

Hello kido, Answering your question. A PQ33 planet do not have actual 33 usable tiles. I will tell you what I found by my own experience. This is information may not be 100% accurate. Each planet have a Planet Class (the number you see before you colonize them). The number of tiles is somewhere from 40 to 70% of the planet class. This is random. Additionally, that planet will have a enhancement potentional (green,

Thanks for your laughing kido, I am not actually complaining, so I hope not being in the stats. I don't miss older galciv games. Just loved this one so much in the perspective of a potential very good game. Need the freedom to things my own way and see how AI reacts to it. When I say too abstract I am not actually wondering to see the information cleary shown in the screen. I also like that stuff of doing a hundred of

Are you sure you are not trying to play with another user's account? Could you do a search in your hard drive for the save game files? If you are able to load a previous save game then I think (not sure) the files would get replaced while you are playing. Kisses from me... Edna
