I just got hit by this too. I've been playing on and off since launch, haven't played in a few months. I remember during a certain build of TotA everyone was having tech inflation issues. After a certain patch it was fixed. This morning I was playing with Yor, planetary invasion 9 weeks. Add additional colonies and research matrices, planetary invasion 27 weeks. Missle weapon theory was also at 9 weeks. I assume the other races also got hit

The evil races (especially Korath and Yor) do really well on small maps. They have quick to build structures with low upkeep and tend to go to war very quickly. With other races I think the AI tends to try to over research and max out structures, those races usually do poor in smaller maps.

The Thalans are a very good race, other people have posted that they are actually the best race. The computer tends to do very well with them. The one thing that is tricky about them is knowing when the build the manufacturing and research matrices. You can cripple your empire by building them too early. And really you should probably only build the lvl 1 structures on bonus tiles, otherwise the upkeep will shut you down. Then you also have to know the best time to research the upgr

I wonder if people are gonna get so obsessed with CO2 that they forget about real pollutants. It's one thing to believe that rising CO2 will cause global temps to rise, it's another thing to trivialize compounds that are actually toxic/harmful to planet/animal life.

I'm not sure if I know the quickest ways to set Rally Points, but usually what I do is set my main Rally Point and then go to governors and set all my colonies to that point. Everytime I think I need a new Rally Point somewhere I make it and then I just click on each individual planet that I want to go there and push "T" then set it. Ideally I would love a paint feature to set Rally points, although this is probably a lot of work. It seems to me though t

About the Yor... Can you steal techs from invasion with tech trading off and tech stealing on (I never toggle these)? If so, you can always steal all the techs you need from invasions, and you will be invading plenty as Yor. On planets I build in order starport, recruit center, maint grid, research matrix, collective, eff center. Then 1-3 charging stalks depending on planet size. This planet will have a net positive income, if you have many planets from colony rush/invasion this eq

A lot of people use troop transports as shuttles later in the game. One thing that might help you is to turn your homeworld into a economic planet with eco capital and not build on colonies until later. Population growth and morale buildings should be the only thing you have on colonies if you have money issues.

I've played about 10 games of TA and have never seen Altarians do well. They colonize and build ships, but never really take off. Korx always get stomped, but the concept of their race seems broken. Sometimes Drengin do well, sometimes they piss off too many. I think usually if you play smaller games the evil races do better.

Tech pace seems great. I've played one game so far and haven't noticed any weird behavior. Before the patch, some of the races wouldn't build ships even though they would research the techs. Torians were the second biggest race in my game and I think they build all tiny, small ships, not sure if this is intentional play style (painful on huge, occasional stars).

I think with the new patch the strange behavior with building no ships may be gone. I played one game with 9 opponents and everyone built ships. I don't really get the Korx. They are supposed to be mercanaries&traders. They are evil and everyone seems to declare war on them. Often evil races are limited to 1 trade route. You would think they would be neutral and sit on the sidelines and trade and build ships. They would sell these ships to races who are fighting each other

I actually think the Yor are one of the better races. The AI usually does well with them also. They definately work very well with a colony rush playstyle. You only put down the minimal on colonies in the beginning (starport, r matrix, m grid, recruit cent, one collective, eff center). You should be able to colonize non stop at 80-100% production. Rushing the full economics tree and most of the pop growth tree is pretty key as well.

Just played a game with the patch. So much better now that research is fixed. The AI seems to be challenging again. I didn't see any build "build transports, but no ships" behavior, which I saw all the time before the patch. Starting a game with 9 opponents and everyone was actually building up systems and ships. I do think the Korx need to be reworked, but that's off topic.

Just was playing a game, going pretty well. Playing as Torians with a lot of research, finally was ramping up weapon tech so I had ships with more than 2 attack. Harpoon 4 turns..... Harpoon 12 turns... I played 3 more turns then just quit. I'm thinking this is why certain empires never build ships with guns, the tech bug messes them up.

Ya, Agree with above post. Torians are all about the colony rush. If you aren't a colony rush player they might not be good for you. Get a lot of colonies and put central mine, temple, harvester on each world. I think with harvester you get 11 billion people. If you put race points in morale, you don't actually need morale structures beyond temple of memories, if no morale points, you might need 1 extra morale structure(assuming you are at the 11 bil cap). Once you h

Wow, I just realized that the Altarian tech tree has a lot of goodies for good alignment. I think there's a soldiering bonus, creative bonus, planet quality bonus, and attack/defense module bonuses. Does Drath also get these?? It's cool, but I wonder if it makes the Altarians harder to play for newer players and the AI. I rarely see the AI research xeno ethics (if ever), so pretty much the Altarian AI is playing without these techs.

3.) Having 1 spy letting you spy on all worlds seems sorta broken. For low levels of espionage, when you place a spy on a world, maybe it gets placed on a random structure, so you can't actually see the planet?

1.) I would like auto constructors. You make the starbases then, they upgrade them with no prompting. Something would have to be done to get around battlestation+others costing BC. Maybe initial starbases would cost more, then all modules would be free. 2.) Thalans need battlestations.

I agree with the Korx weakness. They get rolled in every game, by a different race each time. They seems like a worse version of Terrans, who everyone hates.

The Altarians have Drathian temples because they use to be Drathians. They changed to a different race from being visited by Draginol. This is explained when you research their tech tree in the text boxes. So it actually makes sense. I would like if healing pools were removed and if temples had 0 maintenence. Then rather than better structures you would just put down 2-3 temples. I play with Yor and do pretty well (usually play painful with them). They are good at colony rush due
