Sins and Impulse-smaller than expected in Sins of a Solar Empire Stardock Forums

Okay so i finally gave in and shelled out the money for the digital download version of Sins of a Solar Empire, because it looks awesome and as time goes on i would imagine it'll get better and better in the way that Total Annihilation did with unit packs, mods and community effort. I expected to have to use the Stardock download manager, but it seems the new Impulse thing is out instead.... so i install that, struggle with a complete lack of download activity until i look on the forums and disc

I can't start my new download of Sins either-it's just staying on 0kb and says 'connecting'. I'm at i34 on a beefy internet connection so i know it's not router problems! Any ideas? I know i'm not the only person having this problem.
