One bug I noticed is that while on the planet screen, you can only buy one building per turn (as intended), if you quick-buy buildings from the civilization manager, that restriction is currently non-functional.
I can confirm that.
However, since you actually work for Stardock, your way of saying it is totally unprofessional
I think Fungus has a point there, but as opposed to him I enjoy Brad's posts. I hardly ever agree with what he says, but the fact that these forums aren't cleansed by the PR departement and the CEO is dares to say what he think is quite refreshing. Just for I that I like Stardock as a company. And then there are all the other cool and unique things like good games, great support

You don't have to register the game to play. When you order make sure to have the DVDs shiped to you. That way you can install and play the game without any internet access. But it will be complicated to get the latest patches.
One of the races has the lite constructor module. The Arceans' core ships will be a little cheaper than the other race's because the engines are stripped off so that they can build them even without the engine techs.
Is that why the Arcean Flagship has a speed of only 1 pc/week?

Just recently I updated my BIOS and suffered a serious performance hit. I had to tweak most of the BIOS settings (including RAM timing and FSB clock) to get back to my previous levels. But be careful! Wrong settings can screw up your system.

Vegastrike: Four @'s. Space flight simulator. Like Tie Fighter or X-Wing. It's open Source. SP + (some) MP Babylon 5: I’ve Found Her: Five @'s. Space Combat Simulator with the typical realistic B5 physics. Great campaigns. SP Toribash: Five @'s. Awsome concept. It's a turn based beat'em-up. Great physics, kind of artistic SP and serious MP. Track Mania: Nations: Four @'s. Stunt racing game. Mostly MP. Frets on Fire: Five @'s. The Guitar Hero Clone. 'nough said

In general the AIs need to use the fleet modules more efficently. And I think that is going to be rather complicated. The humanoid races (Humans, Altarians, Krynn, Torians) and most of the evil guys are doing pretty well already. But the Thalans need to change. They use what they have, but that's not much. They probably need a fundamental change of stragtegy. The Arceans always end up with the slowest ships in my games. They need to learn to build the navigation center

I usually use two waypoints close to the border of my next target. One for troop or spore ships and on for battleships. The area you pick should be easy to defend. That means there should be one or two planets that can build ships quickly and some fast military ships that can take out an unexpected threat. When you have enough troop ships to invade all the planets you want and an appropriate military to take out their defenses, go in starsystem by starsystem. You might split your force

TA is very stable and most bugs are minor things. It's still lacking some balancing and the AI ist still work in progress. But none of that should keep you from playing if you're curious. If you haven't play DL and DA yet, you might try that first to get a feeling for basic game mechanics.

You can trade some of the unique techs, but not all of them. And if you can trade for the techs from other civs, you can use them. In general the tech tree is still subject to change due to balancing etc.

The third Iconian eco building is one-per-planet so level 2 buildings can't upgrade to it. If you set difficulty to tough and enable the advanced algorithms the AI will have no bonuses. There are never penalties for the player as far as I know.
We hadn't considered someone not having a mouse. I hooked up the +/- keys and it'll be in one of our next beta updates.
Wow, thank you!
Can anyone else recall when the mega event that increases your trade by a factor of ten hit them?
Does that event lower tax income as well? If so, I'm sure I had it without any trade routes. I didn't even have trade techs. It was a real pain but I pulled through somehow.
Along with that, after the single ship has been attacked by 1 of the fleeted ships, his defenses re-energize for the next volley against him. I think I got all that correct. Please correct me if I'm wrong somebody.
Well, almost ;) The defenses of the single ship (and the fleet) will be recharged after every ship has fired all its weapons. At least that is how I understand it.

After a successful invasion you might get pop-ups about buildings that were destroyed because you used mass drivers or because you don't have the tech to use them. That info is completely useless. What do I care about improvements that are *NOT* on the planet? A planet that had trade routes going to it will spawn several useless pop-ups as well. Those were not even my trade routes. So I support this request for less useless information and better organization of the important news.
You won't be able to much of anything in the Map Editor if you don't have a mouse. Place and select objects for instance. Or zoom, like you've already pointed out.
Actually I can do everything but zoom. I'm usig a wacom tablet and the pen doesn't have a wheel. If +/- worked like in the game i wouldn't have a problem.

52 Replies 19,466 Views

Let's discuss map editor related stuff here. For starters I have a simple question: How do I zoom in and out? Okay, propably with the mouse wheel, but I don't have a mouse and +/- don't work.
You can do that, but you get an up and down motion as well as a back and forward motion with that.
Not if you do it right. You need at least three parts for that. Check the template.
