Hi! Maybe this does't is off topic - if you think so please ignore it. But I was always wondering if tech trading affects your relationship to the AI. Or is it only the trade with freighters? To get back on topic. I would think that leaving tech trading on, but restricting yourself to no trading would be the hardest way. As mentioned above. But you would need a great deal of self-control to not use it yourself. Could be difficult when there is a Drengin invasion fl

Hi Lord Mekos! 1. In the top right habd corner of the ship design screen there are three little spaceship icons. Next to the bar showing how much space vs available space you used for components. The one in the middle shows functional components only. The other two jewelry and jewelry + functional components. 2. Would be a nice idea and give the spaceships even more caracter. 3. Yes please!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" border

I noticed the same a long time ago. I even posted it somewhere but got no replies. The problem is not that he can't build more than two modules but that the starbase info says 2 out of 3 possible modules are installed and when you send another constructor it won't upgrade. Instead it gives a message saying you already maxed out all possible upgrades. It happens only for early stages when I recall correctly. After upgrading to 7 or 8 modules it always displays the correct amount.<br

The FOW behaves kind of strange in my games sometimes. It's really obvious after building Eyes of the Universe, but it also happens before that. Sometimes the line of sight is a lot less than it should be. However clicking on a ship changes that. I noticed that it happens a lot when there are two fleets on the same square or near a planet/star (1-2 squares distance). I think it always works correctly for freighters on trade routes.

Maybe cheaters are only ruining their own fun... but they also ruin it for somebody who is competing in the metaverse. They could always save and reload to play the "perfect game" (invade a planet till they win or fight a space battle etc.) So, why not make it a feature/"bug" for metaverse games only?

Someimes there is a vote in the UP that adds policemen/skymarshalls or whatever they are called to the freighters. When you try to attack a freighter you get a message that it's not possible, because they are protected. I think the privateer should work like that - only constantly and not restricted like the UP law ( 3 years or whatever it is..)!

In the last game I played ( 1.2 Beta ) the Altarians had no second Palnet ("Wisp") in their home system. By the time i thought i had probably missed some random event that destroyed the planet - even though I couldn't imagine missing something like that . And I never experienced an event like that before. I can't remember if there were other planets missing, but I don't think though. That was a metaverse game on a tiny map with all 9 races btw.

In one of my games (no metaverse) I payed recently I allied pretty early with my neighbouring minor race - the Akilians. I like playing as a kind of "protector" for a minor race since they normally have a hard time to hold theit own and it adds some flavor and/or difficulty to the game. I traded them some nice techs (weapons, miniaturization, logistics, defense) and soon they had a small but strong fleet and when the time came and the Arceans declared war they were a big help. Engaging the

Good point! I am in the same mission now and even though I did not play it so far - I played the all the others on tough and most of the time it was the Altarians who more or less won the mission for me Most of the time it just needed just

I noticed something when a race contacts me to warn me about the growing influence of another race. the answer always begins like " Thanks, XX,..." Where XX should be the name of the contcting leader, but it's always the name I chose for me in the race setting. Just something minor - I never got confused by this, but it could be fixed easily I guess (?).

Of course, Poland didn't surrender to Russia. But it was the attack on Poland that made England finally declare war on Germany. And today all different nations station troops in foreign countries for mutual defense and so on. I see the surrendering more like hoping to survive under the protection of a stronger race. Like protectorates in Rome, Greece etc. Civilizations didn't stop to exist, but they lived on under the law of their new "owner".What I would like therefore is that the race surrende

Let me see: you have set a lot of habitable planets and aren't using all AI. This give lots of room to get a nice base. Why using so many usable planets? To get a greater benefit from using production starbase? Abundant planets and abundant habitable planets doesn't really mean a harder game but surely a longer one I thought I read somewhere t

I think the way it works is great. After all - they don't always surrender to somebody else. They also surrender to you sometimes. Someone from stardock once said the decision to surrender to somebody it's a complicated process taking a lot of things into account, especially the dfferent AI profiles and relationships. Wouldn't a human player do the same? When I was loosing in a "fictional" multiplayer game - I would give my ast colonies to somebody else as well. And believe me: n

I like it the way it is. But everybody is entitled to have his own opinion of course! Because I think that food production doesn't always equal max population. Planet quality is also considered I think. When I play as Terrans and colonize Mars (Class 4) without building farms of any kind - then population will max out at around 3.25 Billion. Even though fod production is allowing for 5 Billion. On higher class planets food production equals max pop for a long time. I guess you c

I chose quality over quantity. In the beginning I just build one tiny fighter with only weapons and no defense or engines for each planet to stay in orbit. That way it looks like I have some millitary power and the AI can't use only troop transports for an invasion. Then depending of what's happening around me one or two squads of fast small fighters to intercept hostile freighters, troop transprts and constructors. But most of the time I research/trade up to Medium Scale Building and buil

Thanks for the insights. By now, I too get the feling that a it is easier on a large map with all nine opponents. If I manage to survive the first Drengin attack wave (playing as humans) all my other friends/good races beat the crap out of them. Sometimes I pity the poor Drengin. Always starting out to conquer with the most advanced weapons techs and suddenly they are fighting on all fronts for bare survival. And I just sit here with all the other races in good relations going for alliance

Mine is working again! A few days ago I had some new extensions installed for firefox. So I played around with them a bit to see if it would change anything. But it turned out I had cookies blocked for the galciv forum. So I turned those back on and it worked. Funny, because the error meaasge did not say anything about cookies?

Hi! I am not sure if this is the appropriate place for this. I have problems reading the forums, at least on my PC at home. When I try to open the forums I only get a message sayin "Server Error HTTP 1.1 500" So far I found out that it has something to do with an internal server error and some scripts not working properly. Is it something on my computer thats not working correct? I can't remember changing anything and it has always worked before. I can access the
