I havent played galactive civ 2 for a while and in the meantime Ive competely upgraded my computer due to a motherboard failure (so new processor, mem, gfx and reinstalled windows). After installing gal civ 2 again over the top of my old installation (I kept my data partition) it wont let me run the game, and comes up with the error "Game appears to be validated but the serial number or machine SID do not match". Does it tie in your serial number to your machine set up? if so, how can

Something I dont know whether its mentioned, or might exist and I havent found it yet: Id love a "sandbox" ship designer outside of a game. Just have all the parts available from all techs so you can design most the ships you think you need before you start a game. And then like someone else has mentioned be able to save groups of ships and load the group you want.

as before, sh*t happens. People are crap like that. You can install and play the game without a serial code (it says during isntallation that one is optional), but thats illegal, and you cant download any updates for the game. I got my copy of GC2 off Amazon for £17.99, with free delivery, and it only took a week to get here So I aint complaining

I cant find a link to any of the BETA versions anywhere. Maybe Im being dense, cos there used to be a link in the news, but that seems to not be on the front page anymore. So where can I download it?
