1. Resurection is a pretty useless ability. IMO its worth using the upgrade points on the other abilities first, especially shield regen. If you pair this ability with Iconus Guardians you get a pretty hardy fleet. 2. Harder AIs just get resource bonuses. I think there is some smartness increase, like if you have a SB they will build more anti-structure ships, but thats about it. They will still come and suicide on your max starbase (though when they have all buffs researched and lots

Hold alt and click on 1 ship, and it selects all of that type of ship. This works in the main window or on the planet/ship list on the left side of the screen. Holding shift allows you to select extra units. You can combine shift + alt to select all fighters and all bombers for example.
- Do normal carriers not have unlimited squad replacement capacity?
Yes, but they use antimatter to replace dead squads. In addition strike craft take time to get to full strength, so when you've lost all your squads, when the new ones come out they'll die instantly because they start very weak
- What's the point in killing construction frigates, don't they reappear immediateley

1. The general thought is that trade ports trump all. With a decent trade you can just buy and sell xtal on the black market much quicker than researching xtal production increases. Also, refineries only work on ice/lava worlds with 4 extractors, with several neighbouring similar worlds. When you do go for trade ports - a long unbroken chain is better than just spamming the things 2. Bit trickier. Online most go for a couple of health upgrades, but then you real

I still havent bought diplomacy yet, but the recent discussion on the power of pirates has given me an idea for a survival mod. Concept is simple really - only you and pirates are on the map. You get some time to build your empire/fleet/defences before the pirates start arriving, and then they just keep coming until you die! Maybe you could even start with several colonised planets. Something like this would be a mod Id really like to try.
"Each Trade gives 1.3 plus .1 per chain" Unless somethign was change thats not how it works. Chains always worked in multiplications. So I assume this is on the new speed in Sins Diplo? Cause thats the only way i could see this workin out like that.
The 0.1 per chain is the multiplication part. 1.3 +0.1xchain length, per trade port. Accordi

From my calculations, it shouldnt be too hard. You'd need an 11 planet chain with 3 trade ports at each planet. That gives you 817/s before any planet income. This assums: Base trade port gives 1c/s + 0.075 per chain length + 30% for fast speed. you get 817/3 (3 trade ports per planet) = 272. so 1.3n( 1 + 0.075n) = 272 (where n = chain length) using that oldschoo

I think the main problems are: Small user base. With this, and the vast gulf of skill between vets and real noobs means that it can be difficult at times to get a game together. Noobs wont play with vets cos of the unbalanced nature of the contest based on stats, so the vets are forced to smurf to get a game at times. As someone who can play but no skill, having many games on my account meant some people thought I was capable of capping - which I was not. I made a smurf to avo

This is the acheivement where you win with caps only - is it possible to complete if Quick start is set? I won a SP game last night with quick start set and you start with 2 scouts, but otherwise I didnt build a single frig and I didnt get the achievement. Any thoughts?
From the way it's been described, it sounds like Entrenchment will turn itself off when playing against people without it. Thanks, Cataclysm, that drove me nuts too
If only it were that simple. Entrenchment people can only see entrenchment games, and 1.12 people can only see 1.12. so you cant joing vanilla sins. 2 installs is the only way to play both atm. I think it will be switchable whe

I have only played advent so far, but I think most of this can carry over: Have to aggree on the carriers. Its just getting silly online. Maybe make them slow when the fighters/bombers are not docked, or make them slow when regenerating craft (like the engines energy being used to regenerate the craft rather than fly). Have this as an ability that is turned on/off. And so maybe they should spawn with fighters already built, or the first 2/3 are built instantly? Then when they

Have they said how good an AI it is? If everyone's a load of noobs, you dont want hard aggressives taking over. Similarly, if everyone's seasoned, you dont want easy economists. I assume the host will be able to set the level of AI takeover when they create the game?

Sorry if any of this is a complete repost. Here are a couple of my thoughts from my first few games of multiplayer over the weekend. Loading the game: Would it be possible to make it so that it keeps a loading screen up showing everyones load progress instead of bringing up the map? as it stands, it allows people already loaded to queue up orders for when it does load. It also confuses a few new players (myself included) who think the game ha

Is it normal that a FFA (me verses 3 normal random AIs) seems to be everyone against me? This is the 2nd game where the AIs dont seem to attack anyone except me, and will happily share the same systems without attacking each other. Im playing as advent, and theres an adjacent system that keeps swapping hands between me and another advent player, but whenever the advent opponent turns up to take the world, along comes a fleet of Vasari with him (from a different world mind). Ive now retreated

I havent played galactive civ 2 for a while and in the meantime Ive competely upgraded my computer due to a motherboard failure (so new processor, mem, gfx and reinstalled windows). After installing gal civ 2 again over the top of my old installation (I kept my data partition) it wont let me run the game, and comes up with the error "Game appears to be validated but the serial number or machine SID do not match". Does it tie in your serial number to your machine set up? if so, how can

Something I dont know whether its mentioned, or might exist and I havent found it yet: Id love a "sandbox" ship designer outside of a game. Just have all the parts available from all techs so you can design most the ships you think you need before you start a game. And then like someone else has mentioned be able to save groups of ships and load the group you want.
