Well, Terror stars sound fine but what of Leibinstram (breeding room). Whose to say that after you conqured the planet the amount left over are your surviving soldiers. Terror stars sound cool but in Large plus galaxies I wonder how good they would be. it might be best to have some Cheap light fighters and a sensor boat stationed around the boarders to prevent that. It only takes just six constructors to make a terror star? Thats pretty

I have built two of the bests now... just added the death beams... however after 5 turns of completion they still have a movement of 0/0... what gives and what am i doing wrong?
To be honest I dont agree with terrorist attacks within the game as its a bit morally subjective. Sure its a game, and its not real, but terrorism within the game should be left out, purely out of respect. I agree with this, too sensitive I think. Black hole event. Good idea, but wouldn't it be difficult to code in? I'm thinking changes that won't have to change the game code, like the ones we have now. It wo
Try playing the Drengin and Korath under the Krynn AI (edit the race in the setup panel). I've found it adds a whole new look to them!
im not sure what your saying in how to do that... that sounds very interesting but i wouldnt see how to adjust AI like that.

anyway my first game with the new expansion has the game down to 6 races... the altarians started massive with a huge tech lead and 2.5 times the population of the next nearest race... rians they and a galactic coalition go against the terrans and the humans level the altarians and did damn well for themselves. I took out the weak drengin and the korx as always are swallowed by the terrans. The drath are the largest power to the east with the iconians having a minor

the Drengin ate them my past game...lol for making this thread right before they got eaten. I also agree the korx tend to stink... my game right now they are on a roll and are in a great position... there military is unusually weak tho to a fault.

Thalons are damn fantastic compared to the other races right now... Right now the Thalons are a breeze to play as while the Yor dont have a single area they excel at and are liquid crap for a race... Right now the only use I have for the Thalon is to put them in every game as the galaxy's biggest challenge.

im mostly talking about obscene ranges... the silly idea that combat is taking place at distances several times longer than the length of our solar system is completely bogus. Unless we are assuming all of the weapons used have the magical inate ability to travel faster than the speed of light it would be completely impossible to hit a target with any weapon. As for the magical faster than light weapons... other than missiles *maybe* having a cheesey and lame ability t
covert: I think I pretty much covered the 'lightsecond range' in the moon example. And as was just said, even far less distance produces enough of an error margin that lasers are NOT foolproof. If anything, I'd even say that missiles are far more accurate at these distances, as they can correct their flightpath after launch. On canon: Where does it say that combat takes place at (based on the view) less than a kilometre? The movement of the ships aren't even anything resembling Newtonian, b

I'm sure the fact that ship speeds are measured in pc/wk (parsecs/week) doesn't count as "backing canon". So, let's assume much smaller distances and much slower speeds. I'll do an example using 15,000 km between ships (less than 5% of the distance of the Earth to Luna) and 340 m/s relative speed between them (Mach 1 at sea level - less than 5% of the speed of the Space Shuttle Endeavor). Light takes 50 ms to travel that distance. So, you're aiming at a 50 ms old image and it takes

another thing i want to bring up is that no combat ships benefit by increasing distance... if it is hard to land hits your fleet is going to close with thier fleet... Thus if both sides in a battle only improve by closing distance wouldnt most fleet battles naturally occur at shorter ranges implying less than a light second? If neither one of us can hit each other we get closer... the closer we get the better our weapons fare... It would seem to me that close

42 Replies 35,594 Views

agreed that light second range is viable... at least it makes missiles and mass drivers seem almost practicle at that range... anything beyond that seems a bit absurd for a viable use of missiles and mass drivers. ( I know some dumbo is going to try to bring up ship to ship engagements in the era before aircraft carriers... The reason distance was held at range was that ships needed to put a full broadside to bare towards thier target to engage... the farther away

and yes Iztok... please explain to me how ships (not engaged in hyperspace) are meating up in the battlefield and over the distance of what at its maximum is a few tens of miles (based on the games combat simulator) that the energy weapon I am firing at the speed of light is going to miss... if you were 10 miles away from me in space and i aimed a laser pointer at your chest and clicked it on you are going to be hit with the laser's dot... please do explain to me how these ship

where does it ever say battles in GC2 are occuring at distances greater than the span of the solar system? How do you even begin to assume that? It seems to be and is not contradicted in the literature that combat is occuring at roughly the distances they appear on the battle simulator... they are not weaving around at a speed greater than the speed of light... and as for relativity i think its pretty bizarre to assume some strange dogfight at greater tha

How the hell do you raise them in ToA? I can spend on it and place agents but see nothing like there was in the previous to raise espionage levels...
I don't have TOTA yet so I don't know if this has been implemented, but it seems to me that a faster ship should be harder to hit, especially with beam and mass driver weapons. It would be nice to have some sort of hit percentage where a weapon can miss a fast ship. That, or maybe just give a percentage bonus to a ship's attack and defense for being faster than another ship.
another retarded idea. furthermore beam weapons are perfectly accurate... wtf is wro

Will it run well on a laptop? In general looking for an experience analysis...
I always fill up my colony ships. It helps the colony to become productive (in terms of income) if it starts from a larger base population. The tech tree question is a lot harder to answer, as it depends on what size galaxy you're playing, whether there are a lot of habitable planets, etc. There are some interesting posts in the strategy forums on this.
if you thought population magically appeared on the ship without impacting the homeworld you are a giant moron.

I thinking the cloaking idea is stupid... imagine the joy of spending the entire game chasing cloaking tech because it is a magic women button for the one with better cloaking... no thanks... that is retarded
