eBay should be policing this and not allow reselling games since in most cases that clearly violates EUA and possibly copyright/IP laws.
Mower
In MOO, excess food production was distributed to colonies who were short, a great system that was realistic. Does or can this happen in GC2?
Key point: as troops suck away population, it always benefits in the longer term to have max pop's to prosecute wars.
In general invasion before decleration of war is quite effective tactically.
Hoss420... GC2 is fine, not perfect but it is stable. Most stable I've seen a new release. You are incorrect. Your pc is the problem. The gaming industry is lazyy and does have a habit of releasing buggy software...but lemme tell you what also has to stop: people with faulty pcs blaming the software.
Heck, I never see any message to indicate when someone declares war on *me*...why is that? It would be nice to see a decleration.
It's fine that Starbases do not actively engage passing enemy ship (annoying but whatever). But they should at least impede movement of enemey ships by exerting "zones of control" like classic wargame units do. For example, an enemy ship should not be permitted to move from consecutive space to another while adjacent to an enemy Starbase.
After patching to the latest Beta yesterday, this issue has arisen. To find the planet class numbers, no I must left click on each individual panet. Most inconvinient. Is this intentional? Thanx. Great game BTW.
Is there a way to tell what the AI level is set to once I am in the game? (Cause I forgot.)
"Stealing" is morally ambiquous when it comes to software. It is simplistic to believe otherwise. Much software and games especially released is just plain trash. With no refund option available to the consumer (except maybe using your AMEX/VISA and having them refund you if decline the EUA after opening) you had better believe I will "evaluate" the product before commintting finite funds to it. GC2 was an exception for 2 reasons: it had a great pedigree and good reviews, and it h
Not sure just what Stardock is but it aint spyware etc. My sysgate firewall is not reporting any unauthorized outbound traffic from it for one thing. Great work on the game.
My recent post at Starforce...wonder how long it will stay up? http://www.star-force.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=852
Disregard.
The websites all say to add "cheat" after the program path in a shortcut but it does not work. Has anybody manged to access the cheats and if so how? I am on my first game, still learning, and I am loathe to restart right now.
HIghly useful work. At a glance we can all tell where the pivotal technology thresholds are. As noted above, the arrival of Impulse drives early is significant. Thanks Jeysie.
Thing about being evil tough is that the other do-gooder races may gang up on you.
What makes a race a "minor" one? Are they limited to the number of planets they can have? Are they easy to enslave...heh.
Hmm, they try that on me and I'll blow those bases away.
Dumb question perhaps but how do I tell if a race is a *minor* one?
This is most useful for study purposes when you cannot play the game. For me, I will read up with this from work.
Thanx all. Tell me: what will it say if I update to the new Beta? It currently says 1.0x.2. Now someone welcome an old 4x player to these boards.
Actually on the topic of "computer savvy", I'm an IT Admin and I build pcs on the side. Reason I was asking is that I installed and patched GC2 on my gaming rig at home remotely from work, GC2 will not play over remote desktop so I wanted to know how to check without running the game. Typically you will see the ver in the executable but that is not the case. I will check crash dump file, good advice.
Typical situation: buddy is cornered at start up and ran out of land grab room so he starts a war of conquest with me. I have managed to hold him off but grow weary. How can I go about termianting the war? DO I have to beat him up a fair bit or will he tire of his troop ships being blown asunder?

How do I tell which version I have? Reason: I find the Stardock method of patching to be a little unclear about whether it's actually updating the my game or not. Dunno if I have the up-to-date version or not. Thanx.
