I usually play with common habitible planets and its still hit or miss getting minor races to show up...and 99% of the time it's the dark yor. However in lengthy games I have seen minor races show up...sadly they always start off with a planet about to revolt and so not to let the competition wipe them out I end up going in and exterminating them by the 2nd turn after they show up

I think what is being asked is more a way of organizing the ships. ie. you create two custom races and spend time playing one, build up a set of ships specific to that race. Now when you move to race 2 and reach the same tech level you have a ton of ships that you no longer 'want'. It'd be nice if the organization for custom race custom ships could be better organized or at least made so they only show for THAT race not EVERY race.
PErsonally I'd like to see Minor Races that are doing well be able to join the UP. In a few games (I'm new so play the lower difficulties) the minor races have actually been MORE of a challenge than some of the actual major races. Would have been interesting to see the 'major' race that was getting the snot kicked out of it by a 'minor' race switch places
PErsonally I've tried to see GalCivII in the same light as Starcraft. Between good players blizzards battlenet games can go on for hours....and there's no planetmanagement, only slight resource micromanagement. In this game you have to manage not only your tech tree but your military and social production. Games could take days if not weeks between half a dozen players.... While I agree multiplayer might be interesting I look at the complexity of the game and rea
Heh had this happen to me as well where the icon goes either blank or garbled. Though for me in my games, first time it happened was with core freighter, the icon rather than showing the races freighter option was a cropped image of a planet side terrain. Second time it happened was a few days ago with the Star Avenger core ship, this time the icon seemed to be a badly garbled picture of a trade route graphic. Despite the icon being bad the ship constructed well and still appeared in
yeah just got trounced on seige myself somewhere in the 300-500 turn range. HAd the three main planets and one just NW of the start colonies. Altarans claimed the other. *Shakes fist at moronic ally AI that tries to influence your planets away from you* First thing I did was spend money on espionage. Can not stress how much this helped in the early game when my allies refused to hand over technology. Anyways it got to t
