After seeing some of the "Mech Warrior" type ship designs, and the "Home World" one - well done to u lot for being so good at designing ships (especially those who then put them up for download) I have gotten back into ship design.... Which I actually started to find a bit boring... You can only ever really manage either a lightly armed ship with good armour or a lightly armoured ship with good attack, but not both (that is if you don't cheat and make your miniaturization skill somet

Did you notice how the soldier 'vibrates' at an alarming rate Must be all that coffee - or the fact he's nervouse of his oblong 'gun'

I was talking about GC3, not 2...... As is the topic of this thread, which I started. Or maybe the next Gal Civ game should be written with/or by another company I wouldn't mid seeing them do it with Fireaxis, or even Square Enix, and at least then the graphics would be totally awesome - instead of slighly above average. And if anyone wants to argue with me about the graphics, don't..... I've seen better graphics on games much older than this. I have playe

I didn't mention minigames - I've never played Space Rangers, so I can't comment on that... The idea of personalised species tech trees would work quite well, especially if you can still trade tech - the game would need to be coded to deal with it, e.g. Humans could have something like "Drop Pods" (soldieringability + 20) and the Arceans "Genetically Modified Food factory" (food + 19mt/wk), and you could trade them, but it'll cost double the amount, because it is a tech that each spe

What a great idea.... I hope someone at Stardock or Paradox see some of these threads.... If they have played the other games based on star travel etc, then they have a wealth of design ideas that they can not only mimic, but improve upon as well! Love it, and so I shall make my own copy

Yes there are hard points on them... Although the graphics are a little slipshod, but they are pretty cool..... The carrier and the tank models have moving parts, which is quite funny. Now, if only someone could design some weapons and structures that look like the ones in the "First Capital Ship" FMV sequence. That would be really great!

Hey all. I remember a good few years ago I had a piece of freeware that allowed you to put spaceship parts together, and it would render them, like the Bryce Rendering suite. Also, which software would ye recommend to me to use, so I can design my own parts, and what format do I save them as, and where etc. Cheers. P.S. If anyone knows what that program was called, please post the name...

I would like to see another Race or two added - Maybe something like the Tyranids from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000. I love this species of Alien.... Then you could have techs for planetary bombardment such as "Plague Spores" etc, that'll give you somewhere between 60 - 80% advantage (although the tech will be right at the end of the tech tree) The only problem I can see with this is that the Game would probably require pernsonalised tech trees for each race, with the custom rac

So in theory, a ship with a stupidly huge range - e.g. 30 - 40 sectors (if you cheat and make you miniaturization skill very high, and the life support modules very cheap) should be able to go from one side to the other on the map. I tried it, and it doesn't work on mine. There is still some area on the map that can only be gotten to when a starbase is built.

oh well.... I deleted them any way - I will remove them from my uprated Tech Tree too. If anyone is interested in my tech tree - let me know, as all I have done is add a load of social / cultural stuff to it. I have added some tech to the Xeno Ethics choices - It will display them as a seperate branch on the same line (I've added three for Good Players, and will add the same three techs under different names for neutral and Evil) The Good ones link up with the Co

@ No118 & ZedT Who cares what colour font I used... It's not like your even answering my question... White text on a black background isn't good for your eyes either..... Thats why paper is white, and not died black, and why ink isn't made in white! @ dm04 - I have actually enabled the planetary improvements that were disabled - they seem to work (as far as I can see) The Starports are now automatically upgrading themselves, but I will have to disable them, beca

Oh yes - some of the numbers in the planet improvements - I didn't notice that the code didn't copy - are things like starshipquality bonuses.

Does anyone know if you can add techs to upgrade the Starport, and still make it work. I made 2 techs - Star Port MKII and MKIII for the Tech Tree, and in the planet improvements, I copied the the Star Port data, then pasted it two more times, changed the starport tech name and the internal name to the MKII, MKIII - then changed the req. tech to the ones I made in the tech tree. I also copied one of the upgrade improvement codes, and changed

Oops. I wanted to add a caution about the Lensman series..... If you read them, you may start to notice that the stories all follow a similar patten.... I'm not going to spoil them for you. I'm just letting you know that Doc Smiths imagination was a little limited when it came to an actual plot change.

Oh yes.... DO read any Anne McCaffrey books - especially the Dragons of Pern (even if these are science fantasy) + Discworld books Oh, number of the beast might actually be a Heinlin book. Sorry - I have it somewhere !!!!! My dad, god bless him, has a stonkin huge collection of sci-fi - sci-fant books in a cupboard - I think there is something like 200 - 350 books at a minimum guess. I have started to work my way through these.
