Lets use Warhammer 40k as an example, because some of you know about it. The Tau, use plasma weapons, so I want my Tau to use plasma weapons. Eldar are known for being fast and agile, so I want my Eldar to have engines over armor. Things like that as an example. Just to clarify, the Tau also use Missiles (Crisis suits & Broadsides) & Railguns (broadsides again & Hammerhead gunships). Most Tau capital ships are outfitted with ion cannons, railguns & r

@ Ostsol see if you can track down a game called 'Nexus: the Jupiter Incident'. Space combat without resource collection! It was originally going to be 'Imperium Galactica 3', but got dropped & then picked up by another company. unfortunately the the 4X component was scrapped, but the ship combat that was left was excellent IMHO. Damn pretty too! well worth a look if I understand what you are looking for correc

I'd like to add my vote for some form of mulitiplayer. I only play mulitiplayer over a LAN due to being stuck with a very slow dial up connection. Maybe I'm just getting old but I still remember sitting around with friends playing board games until the wee small hours having an absolute ball. You had no optiion then but to wait for your turn. Going purely by games that have had the longest air time: Star Control - Megadrive (I think it was called something else in the USA, as was the megadrive console) Soul Blade/Calibur - Playstation Dawn of War - PC MoO 2 - PC (at least I think it was 2....was a very long time ago!) Intense but brief love affairs: Neverwinter Nights - PC Warzone 2100 - Playstation & PC Galaxian Moon Cresta - Arcade

Slightly off topic, but is a Parsec a "real World" unit of measurement? If so, exactly how big is one and where does it's name come from ( PAR ts of a SEC tor?)? It's so widely used & yet I've never actually wondered about this before now. I may need to get a life!
