*bump* Are they deliberately hidden?

I like to back up my savegames, but I can't find them for GalCiv II. Where are they? I've looked under the installation folder and in Documents and Settings, no luck.
It's only been mentioned once above, so I'll mention it again: heat could be the problem. I know for me GalCiv II will crash after a while if I don't crank up my CPU fan speed (I have a manually adjustable one). Get a program like Motherboard Monitor 5, that can track your current heat (checking your BIOS after a crash is no good, CPU's cooled down by then). Have it save a temperature log, and check it from time to time. Also, it could be your video c
This makes a good case for limiting the amount of trades you can perform in a turn. That would limit the power of many diplomacy exploits at once.
Yeah, I've seen this a lot. Like Reyals says, the turn doesn't end, it's almost like you're being made to perform movement in stages. I kind of like the idea if you could work in some initiative factor, but I think it's actually a bug.
Surviving troops form the initial population, yes. As well, if you have enough left so that one of your transports wasn't really needed, that transport remains in the space you attacked from. Smaller capacity transports can be useful in this respect, since you'll be more likely to still have some left after the fight.
I think it could be relatively straight forward to code, simply make sure the AI tries to retreat its damaged ships to a nearby planet, or at least keep it out of harm's way for a while. This would be balanced against general military needs for that ship. The trickiest part is getting it to keep reinforcements nearby to reinforce those fleets when the damaged ships retreat.
One tactic that lets you get a military edge is to carefully manage your fleets so that you build up very experienced ships, separating damaged ships from fleets to be repaired so you don't lose the precious HP bonus. Has anyone seen the AI do this? I was demolishing too many enemy fleets at Challenging difficulty to see this in action on the computer's side, but I was wondering if it kicks in at upper difficulties.
I have plain 1.0x (so no recent betas, just what you can get without Stardock Central).
The review comment on the UI is surprising. Unfortunately he didn't really specify what the "frustrating", "counter-intuitive" things were. I've seen some pretty dang annoying interfaces before, GalCiv II does an excellent job. And I still love that smooth graphic-to-icon zoom effect.
Just save and reload after it happens, everything goes back to normal.
I like a lot of the ideas here. I think Breniir's general idea that trading techs can have diplomatic consequences is the most satisfying. No need to have a formalized option screen, though, just let it impact relations behind the scenes, with some indication of the results. Tech freighters is interesting, but a bit inconsistent with the rest of trading in general. Banning tech trading would seem like a shame, a simplification of something that could b
I've been completely unable to create a new thread in the bugs forum. I started with a brand new account, first post gave me trouble, so it can't be cookie conflicts. I've tried both the latest IE and Firefox, no luck. Not to mention it takes forever to see my post appear in the list. This website needs better forum software. The longer the wait to upgrade, the more painful it will be, might as well scrap it now.
The background music keeps repeating the same track. I'm resorting to toggling it to make it pick another track.
I can vouch for #11. I just finished playing my first Yor game and I fiddled with one of the medium hulls several times and the stuff kept getting placed back. In the front "wings" of one of the Yor ships is where it happened to me. Yes, I remember now, the front wings were what were giving me trouble.
Um, I can't for the life of me get this to appear in the bug category.
(Apologies if this was posted twice, the forum is acting weird and slow.) I've played GalCiv II v1.0x about, oh, 30-40 hours now. Besides being the most rewarding 4X space game I've ever played, here's a few bugs I noticed. Most of these I noticed in a gigantic size 9-player game. These are roughly in order of annoyance. 1. Rally point scroll browsing doesn't work. When I use the menu to send a ship/other to a rally point, I can'
