Economy then Diplomacy for me. A good economy lets you keep building colony ships, long after the other races economies have stalled, and are out of cash.

I am assuming your being ironic or sarcastic. PC-Gamer just did a huge write out talking about the evils of DRM and over zealus copy protection schemes. After years of recommending games that had the Starforce trojan. That just doesn't buy them any credibilty. PC Gamer is just a shill
Last game I played I had auto survey stop and tell me there were no more anomilies, when I could still see two.
If you like the idea of ever winning a game, design your own.
I wondered about buying a trade good also. Next time try looking at your stats before and after you buy it, to make sure it really goes up. You can't trade it, because the inventors own the rights to it.
Laptops are more popular now than ever. It doesn't make sense that so many game developers ignore this market.
Space terrain is absurd. Yeah, what next? Bug-eyed bipedal humanoids traveling faster than light shooting death rays.
If he has more tech than you, he can outproduce you and of course will have more ships and money. You also have to tech trade or else you're competing against the technology of everyone else combined. Once you get the hang of it, you'll have no trouble stomping the bugs out of existence on tough level with intelligent A.I..
Can you get them to declare war on you? Try building cultural starbases beside their planets and surrounding their planets with warships.
I think they should have designed it that way, but the designers felt that if they gave the custom race the same options and points it would be unbalanced. They thought a customized race could be more specialized so that it would be superior to any of the predesigned races.
I think I also read somewhere that they are fixing it. It will be a Production and a Research slider that are seperate. So you can run both at 100% capacity at the same time. Better make sure you can build a good economy when they implement that.
No good deed goes unpunished.
I agree, somehow mining morale from a glowing cyclinder in space just doesn't look right.
It does seem overpowering where it is on the tech tree, but until you get to Nano Rippers, mass driver weapons are the worst and take more research to get that far.
More wallpaper and posters would be cool.
Looking at the world's largest bit torrent site, I see that the most recent game with Starforce is being pirated at a higher rate than Gal Civ 2. Most of the games being pirated have copy protection. I can't believe companies pay for that crap since it obviously doesn't work. Anyone know much money they waste paying for ineffectual anti-piracy schemes? With the popularity of laptops I can't believe game companies still expect you to use the CD for verification. How popular do you thin
Sure you can find lots of good ideas in MOO3, but in the end it didn't work well and wasn't fun.
I found it amusing that humans invented hyperdrive, yet half the aliens have better engines at the start. Also all the alien's histories doesn't make much sense since they didn't have hyperdrive or universal translators yet.
Only one side needs it. So if you have it you can talk to someone who doesn't. I believe it works the same way for the AI.
Ships that have the most damage potential, yet are easist to kill, are targetted first. Does the AI figure that by hit points or by defense? I think it might be by the Offense to Defense ratio. I'm not sure, anyone know for certain?
Folks, I am brand new here, so I will apologize for my ignorance, but if the Yor were over powered wouldn't they be the number 1 played race in the metaverse among the top "ranked" players? Because they don't seem to be. Looking at the top 6 characters in the Metaverse right now, and 4 out of 6 play the Yor.
Any updates on sales figures? Has it gone double platinum yet? With laptops more popular than ever, games that require the CD to play are dinosaurs and show just how out of touch some publishers and game designers are. Long live the Drath Empire, and death to Starforce!
Once the engine situation is fixed there is also a question about sensors. The AI doesn't seem to value them much. Personally I find sensor ships very valuable. The evaluation for military strength should take into consideration ships speed. Troop transports should also be given some value. The AI will consider his fleet stronger when in reality he's in very bad situation since I have faster ships, fast transports ready to invade, and senso
First calm down and play at a lower level. I agree that the computer seems too militaristic. Sure that might be ok for the evil races, but the good races commiting genocide as soon as they see their friendly neighbor is weak seems a bit much. If the computer is that far ahead of you in tech, you need to expand faster at the beginning and start trading tech earlier. There's a cheat that you can use to get hotseat multiplayer capability. Altho
You should have built some moral boosting, and economic building before you ran out of cash. Sell some tech for the cash you need if you can. Other than that it's increasing taxes, or waiting for population growth. Then build some economy producing buildings. Morale boosting building let you increase taxes, but you need them on all planets if you do that since increasing taxes affects everyone. Good luck, and hope your survey ship finds some cash anomalies.
