I also prepaid for software+disc back in december and I'm still waiting for my copy more than half a year later. (Belgium) On top of it .... IF.... it ever arrives I'm probably going to have to pay some 10€ Custom Charges on top of it ... how bad can it be ?

Just checking : has there been any "official" response to the "no tech brokering" suggestion ?
I have Dom3. Great and deep game, but not for someone who wants to jump right in. The game has a steep learning curve and it can take awhile before you become comfortable with your race, let alone, all the races, which are quite different from every other game-race we know. Lots of learning-experience to be had in this game. I also agree that AoW:SM had a great tactical battle system. The only thing that was missing was some kind of "logistics" mechanic. Each army co
why should I have to keep track of whether I personally researched a tech or traded for it?
You wouldn't have to keep track of anything, Willy. Techs you haven't researched yourself simply shouldn't show up in your Tradeble Tech List.
I would LOVE No Tech Brokering. But I'd also love the "No trading other race's special techs."
Well, if you use "No Tech Brokering", you automatically get "No trading other race's special techs" as w
Civ IV uses this fantastic option to balance Technology Trading. Why not implement this in GC2 as well ? Currently you can either a) trade all techs you can get your hands on or b) turn off Tech Trading. Both are sub-optimal choices IMO. Being able to trade ( or trade for) every possible Tech does not work well within the idea of creating "different" races as all races start to look more similar as the game goes on. Disallowing Tech Trading on the other hand ta
During play of the Beta TA expansion with the Arceans these issues came up. 1- EVERY time I restarted the game, all my Trade Routes got reset to day 1, rather than continuing their trade route where they were when I left the game (causing a lot of income loss as a result) 2- The Arceans' Stellar Forge Planetary Improvement is supposed to add 25% Hitpoints to ships built on that Planet and 10% income. I don't seem to get the 25% HP bonus.
I have to ask - is this machine getting on a bit? Or made up from other parts? It certainly looks like an unusual sound device for a modern machine. I bought this PC about two months ago. The shop does put together their PC's themselves though, reducing the cost as a result. Thanks for the l
I bought this game about three weeks ago and I must confess the game lost a lot of its appeal. It becomes repetitive quite fast IMO. The Tech tree which looks impressive at first is actually quite boring once you've figured it out. I feel rather disappointed by this game as I had expected a lot more out of it. Maybe I'll give it a few more tries but it looks like this game is not going to come close to favorites of mine like D
Thanks Oneirocat. Found : High Definition Audio Realtek 880 When I clicked that there was a possibility to update the drivers, which I did. The Wizard checked the microsoft website (I reckon) and told me there were no newer drivers than the ones I was using.
It's only been mentioned once above, so I'll mention it again: heat could be the problem. I know for me GalCiv II will crash after a while if I don't crank up my CPU fan speed I see, but is it possible that heat is already a problem while you're still setting up the game ? ( like choosing starting techs and
This was my latest debug report. The game froze about 5 minutes ago while a Scout ship was halfway his movement. Actually you may be on to something : the RAM. I happen to have the very same problem with Civ IV. Thanks very much for the link. Which one exactly is the test I should run there ? And yes, I have the latest patch .......... and a firewall. I tried turning off anti virus program (Norton) but that didn't help. PS I tried to run the memtest86 + v1.65 but my comp does not know how to run a .tar program. Which program do I need to run
I think I've tried it all, so far. Updated every possible driver on my puter, and yes my PC is way more qualified than what is necessary for this game. And yes, I posted my debug file, sent it to stardock, got a reply within 72 hours ......... suggesting to switch my settings to "US English" ... something I had tried already days ago and obviously was not the cure as my game still kept freezing on me. My game freezes on me about e
I downloaded the graphics drivers just a week ago, so I'm sure they are the latest version. Don't know about the sound drivers but I guess they are not the cause of this.
I have one major recurring problem with the game, the game just freezes on me (with irregular intervals) and forces me to reboot. (pointer can no longer be moved and not a single button stroke has any effect) Sometimes I can play for hours without any problem, then I get about 6 freezes in 15 minutes ... For reference, I copied the last debug.err The game hardly went a few turns when the problem kicked in again. Can someo
