That kind of sucks, doesn’t it? It means I get nothing for my effort, except a planet that is. Ok, maybe that is a lot Wouldn’t it be better if you only got tech you could use? The next planet I ransacked from the wicked Korx gave me tech I could use, so this seems to be a glitch. Rygel XVI - Dominar to over 600 billion (more or less) loyal subjects.

Nice job on 1.1. However, I found a bug that I can’t find in the forum, sorry if this is already known. When taking a planet from the dirty Korx I got some technology I didn’t have. This was a sonic mass driver weapon that doesn’t show in the techtree, so I’m guessing it’s an evil special weapon (I’m neutral). When I’m building/upgrading a ship this gun is nowhere to be found, however. Is this supposed to happen? Rygel XVI - Dominar to over 600 billion

I got a crash when loading a saved game. I experienced this once before, I think I have an .err for that one too if you need it. I might add that the game was not restarted between the load and the save, if that helps. I hope this one is already known, but I didn’t find anything when searching the forum. I have a question about the content of a file. It’s positioned in … \GalCiv2\Data\English\ and is called STARS.txt. The file contains names of stars and star systems, but there seems to be triplicates of every name. Is there a reason for this? Rygel XVI - Dominar to over 600 billion (more or less) loyal subjects.

Alienrider describes rather well how a typical game would look like should tactical combat be implemented. Personally I would probably take it one step further and rely heavily on the computers weaknesses rather then my strengths. Rygel XVI - Dominar to over 600 billion (more or less) loyal subjects.

I think he means the backrground processes and whatnot that eat up your performance. Not the measly installation size. Very elegantly put. If it’s true that it really doesn’t do anything unless I run it, then I might reconsider. Can anyone confirm this one way or another? <TABLE cellpadding=8 wi

That "third" party developer you are talking about already has one program on your computer, Galciv 2. So if you are that distrustful of them, you should probably uninstall that too. It’s not about trust, it’s about needles junk on my system. Rygel XVI - Dominar to over 600 billion (mo

I see myself as a member of the quiet minority. I’m just a bit more vocal then most I do like the game as it is, that’s why I don’t want tactical combat, particularly considering the man-hours better spent on other bling-bling. Good point, though. I haven't seen this problem, although I remenber reading about it being fixed in the beta change logs. If you haven't updated to 1.1 beta 4, try that. I’m running on latest official, think it’s 1.0x.2 or something. I’m having limited edition, I think that’s where the “2” comes in. I looked for the bet

No, they cant be a "fleet" if they are moving at diff rates. when you make a fleet the entire fleet will only move at the best speed of the slowest ship. I am aware of that, hence this post The game did crash a

This game is like my car: Not to mean on the wallet and you keep finding cleaver stuff all the time . Only events I got so far are population boom (numerous times) and (I think) an increased speed of the ships. There was also an event that doubled the usable planet tiles. But that one missed me and hit a planet that belongs to The Iconian Refuge… f

Maybe I’m missing something, but I’m having problems with my escorts. I try to have a Frager (Heavily armed, speed 7) to escort a Trooper Scooper (unarmed, speed 5). Problem is, the Frager just run away from the Trooper Scooper if I set the waypoint too far. I’m guessing this is a known problem. I didn’t find anything when I searched the forum though. Any known fixes? Rygel XVI - Dominar to over 600 billion (more or les

It was done rather well, even elegantly, in Homeworld. That’s true. The scale was a bit different though, and it required heavy use of the pause key in order to direct the ships to where they did (or sometimes took) the most damage. You’ll lose a lot of speed in those kinds of games, but I’m sure it could b

While you guys certainly seem to be a cool company, and make good software, I'm not sure why anyone would want to work here. From looking at your output, response time, and service, you people don't sleep. I also assume you eat through IV and have certain.... *plumbing* installed at each desk. Of course, this is just a guess.<br

Sorry for a somewhat lengthy post, blame Frookie . But first: Personally I prefer Rome total War to Civ4 any day (Release the DOGS!!! ). I like Sid Meier’s games, but he was way of with Civ4. I still play Civ3 though. Just needed to get that out of

At the bottom of the screen there is a button that opens a statistic screen amply named “Civilization Manager”. Perhaps this is what you are looking for. If not you could try another of the buttons to open the victory condition screen. I’m a bit unsure of what You men, but I’ll hope that helps. Just a small sorting issue to make life a tad easier. On the planet building screen: Whenever you upgrade something, like the factory for instance, the name of the building changes. This causes the sorted list of buildings to change. I find this very irritating. I would like it if the top four spots of the list could be held by Factory, Science, Banking and Entertainment improvements respectively. That’s probably a good order to sort them by

As is apparent throughout the forum, particularly in this thread, most people don’t want a change of the game to the extent suggested by tactical combat lobbyists. I totally agree that it would be nice to chose witch enemy ship to target, but I don’t agree that it would make a better game. GC2 is a pig, and pigs don’t fly (well they do if You ‘modify’ them, but that’s cheating). Or, like Lucian so elegantly put it: <TABLE cellpaddin

I might misunderstand You, good sir, but I recon this is not a bug but as much as a misunderstanding. Top slider is the tax rate. Second slider is the spend/save ratio. The remaining sliders are for distribution of the funds you are spending. This might not be apparent at first, but there You have it. In SimAnt (oooold game) they had a similar setting with distribution, but rather then using sliders, they had

I have only played as humans so far. Can’t say I find Cultural Victory to be very hard as it is. In fact, I have disabled it in newer games so I’ll have time to properly crush those xenophobic, evil aliens Key is to use starbases and just keep pushing. Many people want stuff to be added to the game. What they fail to realise is that by adding something, you will have to remove at least one other thing. Like most innocents, the simplicity of the game being a likely first victim. I don’t ever want to check planets for fuel status ever again. Ever. It’s just not fun. Also, by introducing more the learning curve gets steeper still. After reading a few posts here on the forums, I can only

I finally managed to update everything on my laptop and install GC2. I tried to shut it of while playing, close the lid while playing, alt-tab and some other abuses as well. I was, however, unable to reproduce the circle-planet thingy. I’ll hope the reinstall fixes things for You. Rygel XVI - Dominar to over 600 billion (more or less) loyal subjects.
