I was kind of hoping for the separate ship designer as well. It would be nice to lay out my ship designs ahead of time and research my way into them. As it stands right now, I usually end up building a new new design on the spot once I see what I'm up against.

coool ... I'd definetly use these ... I agree with the poly count though, never hurts to optimize and use a texture map when it will let you reduce poly count.

I'd certianly pay extra in an expansion for multiplayer. Even the limited ability to add one more non-AI player and rotate them at the keyboard would be nice. Both my son and I like the game, playing against each other would be wonderful.

I feel almost pained when I watch the battles in the viewer. My inner Ackbar is yelling "concentrate your fire ...!" But, if it's all just a show based on an equation I'm not all that hopped up to get it improved. It would be interesting to introduce some kind of tactics selector though.
I've had such a hard time NOT winning with influence planet flipping that I've had to resort to never building influence bases. Depending on the race and the game difficulty you should have no trouble plant flipping with even one starbase in a system. Remember though, the starbases are only effective within the sphere of influence they show when you slect them. So, if you have those three starbases and they dont' all overlap the same sy
