I hate the save game bug. I see it every time too. I only got 4 turns into my current game before needing to quit for a while (had to play taxi). I really don't want the wasted turn this early. I would just restart but i got one fantastic homeworld. I have not experienced the reload crash bug though, and I am running a below specs machine*. I don't like that paticular nerf. I don't like having to monkey around with all the component sizes again just because I want to put on a better engine. Let me COPY the design, as I am quite capapble of removing the parts I want to upgrade (and not the ones that do not need attention).
IMO Factories first. And I don't buy them, I build them. I rarely rush anything. Protecting that initial bank roll lets you get things up and running early, and allows 100% capacity for quite a long time.
On larger maps I find SC very useful. Scout/colonizer aiming, anomaly hunting* and lest one forgets about trade route targets. See an isolated star grouping 5-6 sectors away? My new bestest friends....
Ditto. Esp since i am just learning the game, part of that is making mistakes in ship design. I delete all the designs in the user ships folder before a new game. Deleting a design in game does not seem to keep it from showing up again either. Seems obsolete and delete do the same thing. Remove it from your current game. I suspect using delete design would scrap all ships of that design right where they sat, but have not tried it. (read delete=k
