Another detail missing is, at what point do you feel like your getting creamed? I play large/occasional and many times I get pinned in by the AI and lose the colony rush to the point I am lucky if I get a 4 planet start (esp starting near the Yor). Sometimes I only get my "Mars". IF that is the case, B-line for planetary invasion and take those planets away from the "pinners". Work on specializing your planets. I still tend to balance my planets out, but always run behind th

I agree that the simplest solution is cap the number of engines. No other adjustment would be needed. Cap it at 4 engines per ship max. I say 4 instead of 3 because I like my ship designs to appear balanced and there are a number of hulls that placing 3 engines is goofy. Two on the left and one on the right makes the ship look like it can only travel in circles. And while you at it. It wo
1.4x The problem I noticed was with captured capitols. You take the planet and make decisions based on the info on the screen. IE: you bring the population up to 12b, make build decisions, ect. But the info is flawed. When you reload the game, the capitol tile reverts to an "initial" and ALL those bonuses are gone. I would not consider this a bug in that you lose those benefits, but a bug in how the planet details are refreshed after capture. If I am going to lose the capitol bene
I am playing a suicudal game, 1.4x. I know the AI gets bonuses at this level, namely economic (I read +300%). But, does the AI also get miniaturization bonuses as well? If not, then there is a bug. Example: Yor colony ship, containing 5 Ion Engines, totaling 40 space 5 Basic Support, totaling 20 space 1 Colony unit, totaling 25 space Thats a whopping 85 worth placed on a 55 space cargo hull. According to the diplomacy screen, they do not have
I had this problem happen (1.4x). I have a mystery program that launches and shuts down in the matter of a few seconds, and am not able to figure out for sure what program is doing it. I think it's my netscape dial-up. It has caused problems with other games as well. I wonder if ppl experiencing this problem are having some other program try to run while the game is going on and causing the crash. I don't have the de-bug from that crash. I just cussed out nutscrape and re-loaded the game.
The Drack, from the movie "Enemy Mine" would make a fitting race. Zameez could be the leader.
I just made 2 fleets of missle boats using just torpedos No defensive components? You also want to accumulate experienced ships throughout the game. Those small hull ships may seem weak at first, but they can carry some hefty HP once they level-up several times. And fleet some vets with newer ships, so that when some do get destroyed
It takes the extra time because they have to get CG2 installed and updated for the crew through SDC....... With buildings, the employees do that while on the clock.
I ran into this problem also. Is was a combination of only having an onboard graphics controler instead of a video card (compaq), and over heating. Make sure the fan inside your power supply is working (mine wasn't). I opted for a new system.
I think offering a discounted serial number for used copy purchasers is fine. The problem people are running into is, imo, unfamiliar territory. Most* game companies use CP and have for a long time. Everyone is used to CP instead of serial number security. If serial numbers and no re-sell had been used from the dawn, it would not even be a question. Frankly, I am glad to see a company moving in a new direction and with it's sucess, hopefully in a few years (cough) this
[quote=Ryan Vincent] What does "Draconian copy protection" mean? Draconian: Excessively harsh [quote=HaDAk]Why do I pirate games? Simple. ..... I must disagree. I completly understand
In this game the civs are portrayed as Black and White, and they should act accordingly. Good civilizations should not start a war of conquest by themselves. Sure they should. What is your usual alignment? If you take those sweet PQ colonization events and are leaning towards evil, they most certainly should attack you. Yor an evil race wit
So if there's rich worlds, you get more money, if there are poorer worlds, you don't make as much. That would dependent on your custom modules. If you installed the J.C.Penny's and Sears modules then yes. But if you installed the Walmart and McDonalds modules those poor planets would (ok, laughing
I would bet that you have "auto-upgrade buildings" deselected. I would not be happy if that basic lab for sale was half way to an invention matrix. So much for changing that one to a market. I think I am going to turn it off next game.
Never had the oppy to have a lan party but they do sound a hoot. The thing with epic games like this is indeed time. I like to take my sweet time playing and some prick constantly screaming "hurry up" would ruin the fun. (I can appreciate their pov tho). PBEM would be a great addition but not for $20. IMO it should have been included with the initial release but it wasn't and the game is not really lacking because of the absence. I ag
Start it small. Just give the SB a core benefit of +5% economy radius effect. That's all you get from it. And see how the AI deals with it. (provided you can edit the SB in the first place)
it happened to me a lot under 1.0x. I have not seen an instance yet in the beta but I am not playing tons of games either.
Using one ship to select "upgrade all" costs more than if you do them individually. Yes it saves clicks but you have to pay for it. Ships being upgraded only have one HP anyway so just being in orbit is not really protecting them. I personally don't think it's worth the extra cost.
An example of what I had in mind.
What I do in the ship builder to get around that is size compare. For instance I locate the life support component on the list and click on it. I can then easily find the component on the ship. Since it retaints size and orientation I just (select move item) yank it off the ship and count down the new free space. If it's a current item, replace it. If an upgrade it there, just click it on the list and replace. I DO agree there should be a tool tip come up over the weighted items
"considerably faster"............. The only boat I have ever been on is a canoe as a child and john boat and have no knowledge on this topic. In relation to land distance and speed, how fast is 8.5 kts? It does not "sound" that much faster than the big boys.
Found this in my game. I hope they don't fix it, really. (beta 4) With tech trading, I was able to skip Xeno-Research and build research academies. Because of the skip, I was able to build both. My choice of basic lab or r.a. The game did not update the basic lab while it was building, nor afterwards. I had to manually "upgrade" it. Might work with other xeno techs. I have not had the oppty to test it yet. Yes, it's a metaverse game (and a work in progress
I ran into a saved game crash also. Both auto saves would not play for more than a turn or two before crashing. After sending the crash reports to SD I deleted all my saves. I can make new ones next game instead of saving over the older ones. Now, the game saves a lot faster and loads up with no problem. It makes me wonder if the save function is not completly deleting the old info your saving over. If your having crash trouble on loadi
This is IMO unfair. Shouldn't using destructive invasion tactics damage the planet whether the invasion succeeds or not? No no no. All one would have to do is send several 1 person transports and decimate the quality of the strong races' planets. No need to capture them, just stick them with fifteen PQ3 powerhouses.
ByFrogboy: Debug.err reports will NOT tell us where a crash occurs. We need the SmartException. sighs
