I too just built a new computer a little over a month ago. I was holding out for the new Quad Core Q9450, but there wasn't going to be an appreciable performance gain for code development over the dual core Wolfdale models. Also from the reports I read many owners of the E8400 line were getting at least 1 ghz overclock on decent air cooling. Just to give you an idea of the performance gains I recently wrote a hash table implementing a binary tree hashing collision algorithm. To test th

Yeah what kryo said fixed it for me as well.
I read an interesting comment from an Executive at EA in a news article on Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6186239.html?tag=top_stories;title;18) about which titles they decide to produce. Now I'll be the first one to say EA is just bad for the industry considering the "quality" of game that gets released (read: bloated and buggy), but some of my favorite titles have been under the EA brand (C&C, Sim City 4, Battlefield 2, ... Spore). It seems to me that EA is just like much of t
I bought an HP dv9000t this last March which came with a Version of Vista. I've been thrilled with the computer ever since. I can't say it replaces my desktop which runs XP (couple of games don't run and graphics still aren't as good). I've been mostly using the computer for program development and I found Vista doesn't get in the way of that. I think after Vista SP1 the OS will be a great system to migrate to and develop on. DX10 alone is worth the move when you're ready to get the new
I had another End of Turn crash. This time the entire program crashed and no chance of saving the game. Right before the crash the display zoomed to a Korath fleet attacking one of my freighters. Game date was March 20, 2230. Not much more to go on then that. More to come...
I'm trying to pin down the reasons for this bug, but I'm not noticing much consistency in why it happens. I need a few suggestions on what to keep an eye out for or if anyone else is experiencing something similar to add to this post for the devs. Right now I'm playing a Terran game on Medium galaxy size. GalCiv2 is running on a Vista Home Prem. Core 2 Duo T7200, 2GB Ram, GF go 7600. This is an HP laptop. The game date is Nov 15, 2229. The last hang happened almost right after
The point of my observation is that your hands are tied completely except to hit the turn button until you go positive bank balance. This may have been around since DL release, but my point is that it could use some attention and tuning.
While playing a game on TA I ended up going into excessive debt (> -500). When this happens all military, social, and research is suspended. I think this feature is overly excessive since you could be in the middle of building constructors to upgrade economy star bases. Also you could build market improvements to improve your financial situation. I'm also curious if income and expenditures are calculated correctly. Could a Dev Audi this feature to see it all is in order.
Okay I think this is a bug from what I think is "suppose" to happen. Bug: On any planet you control (prefferably one already with some structures). If you have one building in the que and you complete it by buying out the production cost. it will be removed from the que. At this point if you had set yoru social production to focus it should be grayed out and showing production moved to military. Add a new building to the que and you would expect the social production f
I'm still on this mission and I've managed to keep the 3 staring planets and the Markuses. I maxed out Industry Cap and I purchased just about every building each planet will construct. This seems to get my MP and RPs up to a level of pumping out techs. I went straight for Toop techs so at least I can fend off any invasions. So far my strategy is working. I've gotten Warp Drives, Plasma Beams, and Durantium to out fit my ships. These techs obviously wo
I'm getting the Issue #5 as well. I do have at GF 6800 soft modded to a 6800GT and i'm running 81.98 drivers. I could submit my system specs to a CSR if needed. The issue seems to be inconsistent at best. I was playing last night for over 4 hours straight with out incident then today for just over an hour and I lost my cursor. The problem seems to persist when you exit the game. Usually I have to restart my computer in order for the problem to correct
