Yup, its not bad (Though my human merchants keep getting killed by those pesky dominators)... But I've got two problems, 1) Bought it when I was redoing BG (seems that's a common thread...*grin*) and 2) Bought the box... Does Anyone know of a way to get rid of the StarForce crap that came with it?
HAL
That was a brutal planet... Add a few ecomonic space stations around it and you could crank out capital ships every turn...Hail the Deigen empire...
Not too shabbie.... I usually stick with cheap startrek rip offs myself ( I too can only draw BAD stick-figures) I usually try to hide my weapons/engines/defences by making them as small as possible so as not to detract from the "aestetics" of the design, but I like the way you placed your "big guns"
When you set up your race, pick as many of the political technologies as your can (with your meger 200 pts you should be able to get one or two at the expense of all the ones you really need...) and then go great guns researching republic/democracy and star federation... By the time you get Star Federation your friendly neighbourhood evil race should be knocking on your front door....
I think that each race should have its own background music... like the Dregien should get Raffie playing, while the Altarians should have something like G&R or Joy Division playing.... what do you think, sounds tracks for everyone???
*shrug* I usually let the AI pick up most of the Resources (with the exception of maybe 1 research/1 economic for myself) it makes them a little more challenging. I think that nerfing them would be a mistake as they would decrease in strategic value, and honestly we want the AI to be as stragetically minded (I know programs don't have "minds") as possible. I want an AI that actually stands a chance of beating me without so long drawn out war of attriti
I agree on the Ethics issue, ethics is not a one time bought and paid for event... You cannot (or at least should not be able to) to "evil" deeds and then pay to be good, that is just ridiculous. However if you choice an ethical position you should be required to make choices that reflect that position, and thus make others buy into your declared belief system. "America is great because America is Good. If America ceases to be good it will cease
Nope, I can say that I have won a tech victory while fighting the Yor....
Hmmm, I think both sides in this argument have valid points. First off, while nations on Earth are not lining up to become the 53...54...55 etc states there is a notable exporting of North American culture to the world, and just the fact that other nations fight that export legislatively is a sign that its working...The Japanese say "Bussiness is War" and they are perhaps not too far off... But you are correct the couple of weeks that it usually takes
Nice... I always guard my tech victory technology with large rock trolls, but obviously some one forgot to tell the terrans that...
Well lets start by saying, that's life.... If (big if) humans ever do get out into the galaxy, and if (another really big if) they ever do meet other spacefaring races who says that these races will not be "better" than humans? Who says that all creatures are created equally? What's to say that we won't meet some supra-genuis race out in space who wants to make humanity it's plaything? Face it humans are puny soft pink (at least after they'
sold... *evil laugh*
Hmmm many fallout fans here....
Yup, looks like a good beta... Little concerned with the "good" Torians though, I always feel like a real jerk when I have to wipe out a good race to prevent myself from being culturally absorbed.... and at what point does the AI become this Allied force of insight? Intelligent? Genius? And what about when you absorb a race culturally --they've become so enamored with your culture that their last planet has fallen under your swa
Is it sweet? I haven't taken time to read the journal yet...I wish I had time to play it tonight....*sigh*
In short, both... At least up to factory (xeno industry) and research centres (duh), then build your industrial capital and technology capital and start specializing your planets (at least quasi specialized, always include some economics)
On challenging I always research influence based techs first (along with impulse engines and planetary improvements for added bonuses), they're reasonably cheap and they help a great deal when you have an AI on your border... Try conolizing around the AIs they'll start to fall culturally to you, and use espionage and the foriegn tab to determine how close to war with you each race is... when a race gets to cool or wary start building ships... if your e
An issue I have with minor races though, you can't seem to spy on them... Am I missing the espionage spending button for minors? I would like to know what a minor race has manufacturing/technology/financal capitols before I decide to take their one and only planet from them... Its all about the greed....
OSM, I'll give you my MoO3 cd as I'm not using it for anything but a coaster....
beggars would ride.... Ok I'm begging, please more minor races.... I love the little furry guys....
I agree with Martimus, I use espionage to determine whether a race is a) looking to invade me b) is a good choice to invade c) where their ships are going so I can intercept them and blow them out of the sky and/or d) who I should be paying off to annilate them for me....stealing tech is just a bonus... Espionage is all about intelligence no theivery
Thanks Teancum. Although by the time I had finished writing the first post, I saw that you had included the link for someone else already...
Yuppers, good post. I don't have a problem giving advice (and certainly don't have a problem asking for it ) but don't just kick and scream like a toddler not getting his way... Teancum's pretty much bang on with how some of the worst posters are... Granted that its a public forum and they're allowed to whine and complain, they just shouldn't expect too much sym
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... Brad offered to sell me some new weapons tech last night, for 99 easy payments of 1% of my soul... That was great (not to mention way too ironic in some cases)... Can you post a link to your exercise in ranting so I can flame you for it
I'll Have to try that, a gigantic galaxy with me and the Dreigen perhaps...and I can remember one game where the snarthi (sp?) almost wiped the Dranth Legion off the map with some ships I gave them--they even sent troops ships and actually conquered the worlds that they attacked...
