Well my 3 year-old Acer laptop is really starting to show it's age, I can't even play Gal Civ 2 on it because of its awful integrated Intel Extreme Graphics. In today's new BestBuy flyer I noticed a Gateway laptop on sale, so I went in and had a look at it. I was impressed so I decided to pick it up. Apparently the reason Sony wants to run Linux on PS3 is that it allows them to classify it as a computer, which lowers costs for them. I believe there are less taxes associated with computers than with videogame consoles.

You can download the patches as .EXE files, burn them to a CD, and copy them over to your other computer. You don't need to activate it via the internet, you just have to input your CD Key to download the patches. Why not just pick up a cheap hub (like $20) and hook both computers to the internet?

It's possible SLI has issues with the game. I used to run an SLI setup (2x 7800 GTXs) but I had quite a few hassles with it. The main problem was that you can't use dual monitors with SLI, you have to disable one of the cards to get the 2nd monitor to work. I just gave up and bought a single Radeon X1900 XTX and sold my 7800s.

Well that computer on the link is from bestbuy and thats where almost everyone I know get there pc but some get them from conns. I'd still take a look at any local computer stores your town/city may have. You will almost always get a better deal, as well as better service.

That computer should run the game fine, the memory can always be upgraded. That video chip is SM 3.0 compatible, it's just very much scaled down from the faster 6600's and 6800's.

From what I understand it was removed from the game, although it still remains in the manual.

99% of laptops cannot have their graphics cards updated. IBM doesn't even make laptops anymore, they sold their laptop business to a company called Lenovo in 2004. Did you buy your laptop before or after Lenovo took over IBM's PC business?
