How to make a good start in GalCiv II? in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

Hi, I'm planning to buy GalCiv II Gold Edition really soon. What should I do first? Should I play the Dread Lords campaign first or the Dark Avatar campaign first? Should I read something like a manual or should I only follow the in-game tutorial? Thanks in advance, -RodiX
