its a saturation efect, 1 lucky race Vs 4 normal races Vs 1-2 lucky races out of the max number of races, its less noticable because of all the other races getting lucky naturaly

When I am playing them it takes me about 10 -25 weeks to get to Planetary invasion, depending on the map. but in the beta trying to run invasion fleets to pick off some worlds on the edge is borderline suicidal, since you need to husband your early pop so it will grow.

you still need some high pop worlds for influence and invasion fleets, but it does seem like things are a bit wonky right now with income from taxes. Also early Expansion is freaking painfull right now since you have to somehow grow the population fast enough to keep up with even a modest colonisation schedual,

usualy I just right click to get rid of the component on the curser and try again I suspect though that their is a bug in that something is being rounded down on the display thats suposed to be rounded up(one of the components)

then theirs the whole "I want to make this ship look like a Cylon raider, and this ship to look like that ship from some movie almost everyone has forgotten about and I want this ship to look like that ship from that one Sci Fi serries, only with more stuff and I want this ship to look like a Klingon B-10 from SFB and I want this ship to look like something out of buck roggers(and on and on and on and on every time they decide to build a new custom shi

know how you feel. In GC1 I would have pangs of guilt for loading half a world's population on a colony ship and shipping them off to help moral. I felt so guilty I would park the ship on the edge of the map and leave the poor guys in cryo rather than destroy them Eh just mount some sensors on the coloniser and

A couple of suggestions, Just assume that every 5 minuets you spend designing your latest mega ship will add 1 second to the load time, while that ship will probably look cool, remember that the machine still has to render EVERYTHING you put on that ship, including all the stuff you can’t see due to camera angles. Try to keep your ships in fleet groups, I freely admit to getting lazy every now and then and just letting new ships

I would have to agree, the only time a starbase should be traded is if its currently in someone elses teritory.(hey might as well get something out of it) but even then your better off making them nuke it if they want you to no longer controll it, unless it will somehow help bolster an ally. As for AI teck trading, their have been games where I was somehow able to keep tradeing tecks every round with someone.

Early game it dosent matter because the boarders are far away from you to start with and you realy dont need the speed, and no one is mounting anything more theatening than ill will for the most part, so I just send them out to get them on their way, by the time I need faster units I usualy have at least the next sensor upgrade and the SWACs units are the fastest Standard hulls that I build that are on the map

Heh this is odd The Yor are overpowered! We cant get the Yor special abilitys on the custom race screen! Um if their so overpowered because of their racial ability then why do you want it on the custom race screen? (yes I know that some people are not argueing for that!, but it does seem to be the way the argument is going) and in reality the priceing of it would force you to take a penalty to get it anyway.<

Bascialy useing a Cargo as a Mauler in the early game is way to random, since if you dont kill whatever it is that your shooting at your armed Cargo is going to be "Free XP" for the survivors. and while it may work for poping early unarmed SBs colonisers freighters and scouts, useing them in the early game is a bit tricky since you have to get some kind of gun to arm them and the early guns are just flat out bulky wich cuts into the speed and sensor bu

I think theirs a couple of mistakes as to what people thing is actualy going on here 1) first off, aparently their is not a 1-1 corelation to workers and how efecient a planets assets are, aparently the same 100-500 million people will efficiently work 1 factory or 1 factory 1 spaceport 1 researchlab 1 embasy and 1 entertainment center. The reality is that considering just how automatied you can make a production process nowdays though, its

Bascialy the game is, deliberatly or not, modleing the inherant waiste in an economic system, Granted the level of waistage is worse than anything in the Former Soviet union at this point,

Basicaly I generaly have 3 speed setups Speed1, theis are usualy my Planet defence units, since the odds of them getting anyplace interesting is non existant, the space is used up by Weapons and armor since obviously if they are protecting a planet I dont need them to see or travel very far and filling any odd slots is just a waist of production, I also tend to use Speed1 and slow speed to build SWAK (Space Warning and Control) units <
