I blame the fact that 8 out of 10 games are almost identical except for a few things. Truly original games with original content are hard to find nowadays. But when they do come up, you can automaticaly tell from the userbase. Just look at GalCiv, onwards to the third expansion. Or if you look at World of Warcraft with over 9 million subscribers. Both games just for the PC. PC gaming is dying? I don't think so.
Rakeesh
Alterntively, if you don't like it just load from your last save. Super events like these are random, and odds are it won't happen again next time around.
There's actual some super events that even cause the appearance of multi planet minor races. In my last game, an event took 32 planets from across the map that were colonized by races and turned them into a minor race....and they stayed alive for at least 4 years. They crushed the torians and drengins and then others moved in to invade. I've never actualy seen one colonize though. It'd be nice if they did and invaded too. Would add another small dimension to the game.
An option to make worlds that are uninhabitable dissapear when zoomed out into icon mode. Really, it's just to lose some of the clutter when you've zoomed way out so you can focus on the things that matter rather then always seeing empty circles everywhere. It could be a simple 'on/off' switch near the minimap like all the minimap buttons. -------------------- I also wouldn't mind seeing a special module for space stations that would let them house ships to guard them
Plague and disease? On robots?! I thought that was called rust. X3
I'm still forever rooting for #1. Supreme Commander was going for that route too. Then the expansion came and suddenly I need a cd to play again.... 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
So, as the title states, why is your favorite race your favorite? My curiosity stems from the current poll with the majority apparently favoring the humans. Personaly, I don't really have one since I play on custom. So sue me I like having control over every aspect. But then I look at the others and I'd have to favor the Yor for the simple fact they've got such a strong starting bonus in techs and abilities. So, oppinion time! And no, 'just cuz' is not a valid answer. :)
That episode was not very logical. I mean those guys could beat the Flagship of the Federation and still they are just a minor race.
Sure it does. Just because you have the firepower to blow up a planet doesn't mean you HAVE to use it.
"Darmok and Jilad at Tanagra."
Oh you people and your impatience of mail. Try living in canada and ordering stuff from the states. Things can stay in the border for 1-2 weeks before moving on, and we get an extra charge usualy. So just have patience everyone. We'll get it in time.
And we can't wait to see all the new DA stuff that's coming.
You seem to not understand the point of a custom race. Custom races, along with each individual race, can be tailored exactly to the play style of the person playing. It doesn't matter that the customs have only 15 points. If you see it as a drawback, then simply don't play them, and stick to the already created races. But remember that they are pretty much limited to a style of play, and the AI has been scripted to act according to the other races in certain ways. This is easily av
Apparently, I'm more one for plain names....mostly. I make custom races, so my endevor is to make each one named differently to fit a style. For example, my custom race that likes warface has Assault Cruisers, Battle Ships, the Zepher, Podships, etc. Which my more peaceful race has things like Carrier, Outrigger, Outrunner, Intercepter, Striker, etc. But then, my naming style is more based on the WingCommander universe style, where everything is clearly named. What's that?
Actually, I myself would love to see more invasion combat customizing. Seeing different graphics for troops for each race for example. Even a way to customize what your tanks/dropships would be nice. Just imagine hulking insects and spiderbots fighting off space marines and rolling tanks.
I'm more for custom races.
Yes, but a scenario can't be scored for metaverse.
So I'm looking at the button, and I think to myself "They could do so much with that option alone...." Sure we have Clusters(loose and tight), and just randomly scattered. But why not galaxies in different actual paterns? We could have various styles of 'arm' galaxies. We could have a galaxie in a shape of an 'o' with nothing in the center, or all the stars crowded right in the middle. Or tightly packed stars in the center of the map which disperse outwards towards the edges.
If they're anything like the random monsters from MastersOfOrion, I'm all for 'em.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I find the arrow keys to be...iritating. Every other strategy game uses the arrow keys to scroll the map, and whenever I switch from the other games back to GalCiv2, I get all....annoyed. Anybody else have this anoyance, or am I just insane?
How can you miss the mp3 player? The game doesn't use too many resources so you can just turn the music off and run your player in the background.
Military Prod: +20 Pop Growth: +10 Research: +15 Social Prod: +20 The last two points are placed depending on what play style I'm going for. Same goes for the political party. But I tend to prefer the Industrialist party.
-When I dessign a ship, I often switch between different styles. I would like the ships dessigned under one style to not appear under the others, for they always appear but heavily butchered. -Rather then having the 3 colour bars for selecting a colour, have a full palet like you would find in any art program -Permanent Wormholes(also different looking to be able to tell them apart from the temporary ones) -Have your race image appear in a few windows, giving users more reason to

About....18 hours I'd say. Though that's not counting all my idle time. . .oh to be easily distracted.
While playing multiple games, multiverse or not, I notice that the sensors are always dropped off to the side. Either I'm focused on tech upgrades, ship weapons, or expanding my influence\diplomacy. But I noticed that the computer ignores it just as much. So my question is this, are sensors any good? If so, why does the computer itself ignore them?
