I like the idea of planets having a 'sensor range' type idea - but I think it should be linked to something that is normally built on a planet? My guess is that updated Starports or something would be a good thing to place sensors on - it's not the 'basic' model, but if you have the updated starport, then you also gain the capability of what your current sensor range is... yeah - you can only upgrade total ships - not just parts of them. Makes sense, but it sucks sometimes when you want to just 'upgrade' weapons or shields eh?

As a guy who's played many games and styles, I've been 'looking into' this thing called "GalCiv2". Seemed like a good game by some of the ratings that were being posted. The thing that's gotten me really excited about this game is the 'open-architect', open-staff (to QnAs) and positive influence that you are all trying to portray. I agree with you on the "non-CD".
