Just bought Gc2 and both expansions, where do i start?! in Galactic Civilizations II Stardock Forums

As the title infers, I have no idea whether to simply start at the twilight of arnor or do the single player then skirmish of original gal civ 2, followed by dl then finally twilight.... Is the story worth playing through? If not will I miss anything out by not playing a non story game in arnor exclusively? Thanks in advance, Radarhead.
