I hope GalCiv III does not fall pray to real-time based mania. The vast overwhelming majority of GalCiv players are into it because its turn based - one of the few superb gaming titles that is. Nothing wrong in giving an RTS Option to play, all for that, but don't forget GalCiv Roots ..... Single Player Game against an AI. There are Legions of Gamers out there who ache for a quality single player TBS GalCiv III, but one that has not fallen prey t
...........I am guessing that with the end of the cold war, the increasing distance to the end of the enemy picture, socialism will become less of a bogeyman. But that's the outside view. A slight note, the same demonizing was going on in europe, but with a stronger focus on COMMUNISM, not socialism - we differentiate strongly between the two, while the trend I see in americans is to not see any differen
.................... So, without getting political, why is the culture of the United States of America so fixated on capitalism?
I believe the historial context of where capitalism originated, and what drove it have not been considered on the thread. Unless the origins of a philosophy (any philosophy) are taken into account, it is hard to quantify how or why that philosphy evolved into whatever it maybe in any point in time. It takes 25 years for a mainstream operating system to mature and become fully stable, as all mainframe and unix flavours have demonstrated for decades. By that guise Microsoft still have another 6 years to go .... and going by Win7 its starting to look like they will do just that. Google "OS" will not be a serious OS for a good many years to come - even if that is their game plan, which I doubt - although I hope it does evolve that way, competition is a good th

I no longer trust EA in any way whatsoever. Its not yet clear what the angle on this one is ...... but there will be one besides DRM. Whether its tracking online useage, site visits, cutting down on code by using server based modules for the client .... whatever, I dont care, not buying it or any of their games. If I pay for an SPG, then I expect to get an SPG - no dam marketing fudge and creeping "control the gamer" freaks. As far as I am concerned this latest EA id

AOEIII but then it was my fault, I hate RTS as you end up having to "beat the AI" in terms of speed, and minimal to zero chance of original thought. So called "strategy" goes out the window in RTS - and you end up with a poor-man's substitute for what strategy is really about. In my mind RTS is just a frilled up "shoot em up", and just as pointless. Many said they liked it, and why, so I thought "hey why not, so many cant be wrong". They were, I loath the dam thing.

Cloud Computing is an attempt to get a concept into the minds of the less technically inclined at a Business level. To even start explaining to a Business Level exec (etc) the detail of remote services, on line storage, Web Marketing, leasing software components yaddie yaddie yadda, is a fruitless exercise - as would be explaining the real intricacies (as opposed to ill-informed emotional rumour) of the Stock Market to a technical Guru who spends their life up to their armpits in

The whole thing depends what you want to do with it. A Mega power rig is one thing, its a little pointless if in reality it just sits licking its lips but not much else ..... and all the latent power goes to waste. Its highly likely that a "standard" entry level quad and "average" hard disks (circa 300Gb each - get two, so you can have a totally separate load of the Op Sys for those times of hassle and woa, and easy BackUp), would do you well. Its going to be a

I like the focus on useability without going through hoops and loops to use the game you just paid for - the latter is really, really irritating. I suspect the push back will come from those whose sole interest if to maximise revenue and dont care about the consequencies for others. They need to get the age old message that 80% of reward comes from 20% of the effort. To close that last 20% of reward to perfection, requires a massive 80% of effort. Its the quest for u

If all you are doing - Primarily - is converting image file formats, then download Irfanview. Its free to Private Users, Commercial Users pay full price. Its been around for a long time, first came out in 1996, and does its job well. For the use described above, it will be a better bet than GIMP - the latter is a full fledged editor. Irfanview will edit files, but its great strength is the wide file format ability. It will also be asier to use than GIMP in a GalCiv mod

I had a FireFox issue for a few days end last week/early this week, dam thing would not stay up, kept closing down, had to use IE. Then 2 days ago it chirps up "applied an update "(sic) for your benefit as a valued client" (euphamistic paraphrasing) - and it was a rapid (3/4 seconds) update. No hassle since. I get a feeling there was an "oooppss" in the background and a rapid fix came out. Whatever the scenario, it appears fine now. Reghards Zy
