I vote to please keep them. I check them close to once a day to try to keep updated and to hear about new ways to defeat the AI. I also like seeing all the 'bling' earned by the players at large here!

Iv'e played two games on normal, 2 on challenging, 1 on tough. My medal says normal. Maybe it will change with a few games submitted at painful?
I want to echo the request to not use colored fonts when using message boards. Much more difficult to read.
It's like complaining to an ice cream manufacturer that thier product is making your 40-year old, inefficient refrigerator work harder to keep it frozen, and is therefore not a 'green' product. How about complaining to your girlfriend about shedding too many dead skin cells (90% of household dust) that then gets sucked up by your computer fan necessitating that you clean your computer more often. If your computer is running so hot as to noticably heat your entire bedroom,
To be fair, Well the problem is one of Stardock's own making. They claimed that the AI without cheating at 'tough' would be unwinnable for all but the top 5 percentile of gamers! That is a claim that didn't pan out I'm afraid. I'll bet that if you looked at the actual numbers, I'm thinking that 5% is pretty accurate. Probably only 5% of the pe
When the computer gives you a message about 'precursor corvettes', it is usually talking about a different race finding them. When you find one, the computer describes it as a 'precursor Ranger'. The message box looks almost identical. It is very easy to think that the message was referring to your race, when it was actually referring to a different race.
Capt. Chaos's suggestion is (should be) standard practice for any gamer. It boggles my mind how many people play games on a computer that has virus protection running. Massive performance hit, especially on baragin basement computers like mine.
I would like to see a game 'have' to get submitted once it is started, win or lose. This would only work under a perfect non-crashing program though. There would be too many complaints of having to submit a game that became unplayable for some reason or another. But having to submit all Metaverse games that you start would give a more realistic ranking of just how good of a player you actually are. As it is, everyone wins all games they play.
I've tried sending my savegame file twice now, both times bounced saying either the file is too big or Stardock's mailbox is full. My savegame file is 8.1MB. Do I need to compress it or do I need to wait a week to allow Stardock to free up space in thier mailbox?
Once you reach the advanced level of espionage, any further spending is wasted. Set the slider down to zero, and you will still get an occasional stolen tech. Keep in mind though, that you can only steal what you don't already have. If you aren't getting any stolen techs, you probably are leading the game in research. On the flip side, getting lots of stolen techs is a good indicator that you may be falling behind in research! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles
The bug also affects the Yor. All I did when I set up the game was change political party and ship colors, and it assigned the abilities a -1. Played a nice long game only to see it flagged as a 'cheater' game. My next game I kept the same settings as my last game, but unchecked the 'creative' trait to put my abilities total at 0. Its a shame that playing default settings gets a game labeled as 'cheater codes detected'. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smile
Spaceno93, I'm familiar with that theory, and it makes total sense. What I've been explaining is that I see what appears to be 'catch up' production from my starports after loading a save game. Each and every time I load a save game (yes, all of them Metaverse games) I experience the production lag that everyone is talking about. But, a few turns later quite a few of my starports pump out extra ships. I've been playing this game enough to recognize if this is simply a case of me no
But I don't load autosaves. I play each turn until the green 'turn' button lights up, then save. So the turn that I save on, I've read the production report notices, visited each planet that produced a ship, launched the ship, gone back to the main play screen, moved all my ships, green turn button lights up, then I save. These are the saves that I load. The game loads up, I press the shiny green button, and go from there. Your reasoning also doesn't explain why I sometimes find three new s
What I have been experiencing, as I too only get to play for an hour or so each day, is that when you load a game, it takes a few turns for your colonies to produce anything. Hence the thought that you lose production each time you load a game. I've even heard someone theorize that Stardock did this on purpose to encourage longer playing sessions. However, what I have noticed is that once my colonies do begin to produce ships, they tend to have 2-3 new ships in orbit. It is almost
And the NLC's are not overpowered. They are 22 vs. 20 of the Discovery Sphere. Get enough Discovery Spheres and you can research very fast too. And it helps if you can snag a research resource or two. If you look at it that way, then you are right, they aren't overpowered. But if you compare them to what the Good/Evil races are using at the sa
Man, you guys with the high-end video cards getting video related crashes. I'm running the game on a base model Dell with a 32mb on-board video, 512mb ram, and play gigantic galaxy games with no problems whatsoever. Does it run like greased lightning? Not even close. But I can get about 20 turns done in the one hour of spare time each day that I can play. Great link to the Old Man Murray site! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" border=0 ALIGN="abs
Guard and sentry work exactly as advertised. Sentry look for ships within its sensor range for any other civ's ships, and guard does the same for ships from any civ you are at war with. If none of those ships come into sensor range, they sit there and don't require you to give it orders every turn. If used properly, it actually saves a great deal of time. If you set your ships to guard or sentry, and feel that they aren't 'staying there',
I'd gladly pay $9 if the content was worth it. Extra components and hulls isn't enough for me though. I think the earlier suggestion about each race having thier own unique ship hulls and components is an excellent idea. I would also like to see actual ship designs included. Hulls with extras and fluff, but no components, so that we can add our own components as we progress along the tech tree. There are a few mod packs out there with
Not true. I'm playing the 1.0X version (waiting for the 1.1), and went -6000 last night on Challenging setting. No cap above Normal. Edit - Didn't display the quote I was referring to. Sorry about that. I was responding to the statement that there is a cap only in the beta
I'm running IE, and there is no link to the poll from the main site. Sorry Darkstar. I was searching Gamespot for turn-based space games and saw the previews for GCII.
I don't think you can choose your character after starting the game. My reasoning being that playing a metaverse game is considered a 'sandbox' game, where all the rules are the same for everyone. No mods allowed, no cheating, etc. SG does not want someone playing a game with potential cheating and mods, and submitting it under a metaverse character.
I have seen several examples of special events related to increased research. They indicate that you have experienced something like a 25% increase in the area you are currently researching. They seem to pop up randomly, and I've had about three of them happen in my current game so far. Could this be the result of being creative? Will have to wait for a comment from the game designers..... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.
