BUMP me too... During my current game in v1.11 I have reached a point where, for some reason, the turn button disapears and will not come back. It occurs immediatley after clicking to end turn. It happens despite reloading the saved game. After loading it will allow one or two turns before the problem re-occurs. It is as if the AI starts its turn and gets into

Have a great holiday, hope you enjoy it. And the engine team got my new option in -- "Allow AI to use extra CPU time" that people who are willing to wait (or have really powerful CPUs) can set the AI to use algorithms that are more time intensive. w00t! That is awesome, though my setup is not state of the art I would welcome this o

Sure, it is stupid to refuse a trade involving some good planets, but if it is not programmed to understand all the implications of such a trade, then it is better that it just refuses outright.... Thats a good point. EZ AR

@MBJODET I respect your post and where it is coming from, even if I don't agree with you. Some points though: What if you came home and put a dvd in your dvd player, but it wouldn't play. Not until you called or emailed the company you bought it from, and they gave you a code to 'turn on' the disc in your player. Then, six months lat

Interesting post Skelton42 which was clearly argued and demonstrated effectively! I am at a loss as to what you are seeing, as in my last game the Torians were: 1) Clearly going down the Cultural Conquest Tech Tree. 2) They were upgrading the ISB's, just not to the max that could have, but that might have been down to cost issues as they were waging several wars as the galactic superpower. 3) They were doing the cultural war (Mid game) to me because I beleive,

It would seem that 1.1 update is causing problems because of offline activation. This is a tricky situation as Stardock need to balance protecting their profits with user convenience, as they are one of the few companies that provide substantial content for an SP only game after it has shipped, so effectively you get more and more game as they improve it . The fact is that I haven't had to do offline activation so I cannot factually comment further on this. Me personally I can see th

I have once seen 27 pirate ships massed together but luckily not as a fleet (phew). I had the prison planet so I had to beat them down, bit of a pain but luckily I wasn't in a war (fighting proxy wars) !!! EZ AR

For the people asking about potential save problems. I would say expect some if you are using a previous version save game. As someone who has been playing most of the betas since 1.0X, I know that there were changes to the save file format and I experienced a few minor weirdies when I was playing a previous version save game with a new version GC2, however YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary). Bottom line try it and see but if you have problems try starting a fresh new game. Hope this helps

Hello OP, ... How does this work? I've sent off my request to the activation wizard, I'm assuming I'll be sent some sort of key. ... I am not sure what your problem seems to be as you have titled your post "Extremely disappointed in patching process" but its not clear from your post whether you have actually been through th

What I do when the someone places influence starbases in my area that are causing me grief but I am militarily much stronger than them, is I simply destroy the starbases, and then immediately attempt to make peace and maybe give them some money to them to sweeten them up. In many cases this works, though sometimes it does cause grudges that I have to deal with later! lol. Though to be fair if I diplomatically (if I had the option that is, would be nice to have) told them to push off

Wow a post where someone has had a reasonable attempt to solve the problem, search the forums and stated what they have done, you've restored my faith in humanity! But man that is a real bugger of a problem. I am thinking that if you are getting a forced restart, you are causing a kernel error. I used to see a similar problem on my old 9700 pro when playing a certain map on UT2K4 at a ra

@Victarus Your good point is well explained. I hope the 'Strategist' starts to at least realise that AI programming isn't just a case of saying 'Bad program, escort your troops!' as he seems to expect. It is very easy to destabilise an impressive performing AI by tweaking it and unbalancing strategical priorities and so changes need to made very carefully. Formulating awesome strategies within the limited clock cycles of computers today is not in a 'Dummies' book and it req

Draginol, an excellent point well made. Having done my thesis and degree in Artificial Intelligence (some time ago now!). I have some understanding of how difficult it can seem to get a computer program to act in a consistently intelligent manner for what seems to humans an incredibly simple task. As Martok points out the AI decency in GC2 is largely due to one the 'problem space' being simpler, henceforth making solution descriptions magnitudes easier (a extra feature here and there

@#2 Yeah I remember that feature as well. It was useful as it gave a rough indication of what was required for future ships. Seems to have disappeared in the betas I am playing. Or maybe it doesn't work for custom races which I now play a lot! Would like to know what happened to it ? Yeah the Galatopedia is very nice! Worth a look definitely. EZ AR

@ joeld1212 I understand your postion and I respect your opinion. Please as I said in my post above I welcome intelligent debate on this subject and I think you understand I hold no malice towards the Tac Combat please group, I simply want to present my point of view for consumption by all who are prepared to hear it. Some changes are inevitable and should be made to keep the experience fresh. While we have civil reasoned debate on this subj

I have to throw my lot with the 'no tactical combat' crew. I see GC2 as empire management game not a fleet combat management game. Good reasons have been mentioned already in this thread. The one that sticks out is that the game balances a certain simplicity with strategic depth and tactical combat would push that balance towards the micro-management nightmare that I ended up avoiding in so many other games I previously tried in this genre. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/M

I just got that 'event' but it only converted mines to PQ 4's, was a riot though as some tiles are better than none. Then the Iconians got 'an artifact that will only keep making them more powerful: destroy them or be enslaved' event in the same game while the colony madness was on. I had to pay the current galalctic leader (Altarians) to destroy the Iconians, cost me and arm and a leg, but strangely enough the Iconians surrendered to me so that made
