Never, never, never, ever believe anyone who tells you to never, never, ever do something. Don't worry about population building up and morale (or at least I don't). You can manage it by building troop transports and bleeding off the extra population into them and using them to invade enemy planets (or atleast I do).

I must be doing something wrong. I've never needed more than one farm per planet. I usually keep my planets under 10 population because I build so many troop transports for invasions so I've never needed more farms than one.

If you think about it when the computer does this it makes the same mistake Japan did when it attacked the US in WW2. You can't just look at the other side's military, but unfortunately nations make this mistake over and over again. G. Bush looked at the Iraq' military and rightly knew the US military was superior--I don't he considered the kind of long term war he was getting into, though. History is full of miscalculations.

I went for a couple of weeks unable to add a character to the metaverse. I would input the information and the screen would come up to process it and never move beyond that point. A couple of days ago I discovered the problem. I use Mozila as my browser. When I used IE it worked just fine. Hope this helps others.

You can cycle through unmoved ships with the tab key, and the c key will center the screen on your current, selected ship. If you cycle into a ship you don't want to move that turn hit the space bar and the game will zero its movement points for that turn and not cycle back to it. You can also use the g key to put a ship on guard duty and the game will never cycle to it (unless an enemy comes near enough to activate it)--you have to go and manually select it.

I'm having the same problem. I would love to join the Metaverse. This site needs more bandwidth and more responiveness overall. Spend a little of the money you've earned guys!!

I'll bite. There is a lot of merit in the speed approach. Not too long ago I played a game where I found myself militarily behind--the other side had more powerful ships and more of them. My advantages was that I am human and that I had speed (4 and 5 versus 2 and 3). The speed turned out to be a force multiplier. I simply ate the other guy in pieces. First, I slipped behind the fighters and took out the transports. Then I took out his

Well, I do things a little differently so I'll throw in my 2 cents. First, I only set my tax on 39% so I can keep my colonies in the green (faster population growth rate). Second, I take a cargo hull and fill it with engines and sensors so that I have a scout that (depending on starting abilities) can move either 3 or 4 and can see five or six parsecs out. I purchase this on turn one. I purchase a factory on the home w

I just finished a "short" game and had an absolute blast. I played it on a medium map and set the AI two steps above normal (intelligent?). I’ve been primarily focusing on playing longer games so far and thus emphasized economy and research in picking pre-game skills but I though I would try something new so I picked the speed and sensor "buff" options and one of the races I hadn't played before.. One of the most useful things I have been

Lots of good comments guys. Yes, I realize there is more than one way to "skin the cat." My comment on the economic path to victory was just that. I've had bad luck on the higher settings with game stability. On one occassion I had a group of transports that the game allowed me to use over and over again to invade. Took all of the fun out of it. Plus, the "luck" thing really got out of hand. The game gave me three "lucky" cru

I’ve spent the last four days playing Galactic Civilizations 2 and I have really enjoyed it. In this essay I would like to share what I’ve learned. Overall the game is sound. The concept of explore, expand and exterminate is a good one for a turn based game. This one has a nice technology tree, but the most attractive feature is the ability to design your own ships using various modules in the game. Another attractive feature is the abil

Last night while playing I went to the Rally Point screen and the bar would not move down through the list. Also, I still have that saved game that went south after a NPC fleet somehow got stuck in a planet. Email me at [email protected] if you want it. Great game. I am really enjoying it. I wish there was a multiplayer-internet option. I read your reasons for not doing it and I understand them, but there are a few of us out he

I accidently posted this on the main board first, but I'll post it again here just in case. I have a problem last night. I was playing a custom race, but I don't think this is the same problem the board already talks about. I've updated the program and all. Anyway, I went to attack a planet and could not because a third race's ship was stuck in the planet. Then, a little later I pressed the turn button and the thing just never

I have a saved game file with a bug in it. I was playing a race I created, but I don't this is the same bug that has mentioned along that line. The first indication there was a problem is when I tried to invade a planet and could not because a third party's fleet was stuck in the planet. Then, after a few turns, when I press the turn button the game hangs and never completes the turn. Hated to lose this one as I was just about to put the
