I think my computer cant cope with the 3D battles, the game locks for a second when things explode lol Strange because it runs rome total war fine something has gone wrong!! I find the best way to watch the battles is at double speed, they are more like starwars style battles then, with everything moving super fast. Its great.

This is how i see the cultural victory. It doesnt technically mean they overthrew their government and became Humans ect. It means they are so culturaly dominated by you that for all intents and purposes they are on the same side. It even says something like this in the victory screen. The best example would be the way England had dominated the world from her expansion in the colonial eras. The culture was pushed out to indi

Sadly you have just wished death on over half the population of the world. Thankfully not everyone in the world is super intelligent. Some people spell badly, some are crap at football, some just suck all round. It makes the world interesting. To expect everyone in the world to be able to spell is dumb, and to wish people who cannot spell or are lazy (like me) not to post is very Hitleresque <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/sm

I have never seen pirates! I have heard rumours of them, but i have never bumped into any yet. Guess im lucky In my latest game i do have the jail on my planet though. So maybe soon hey?

I dont think they magnify your own planets influence. Im about 80% sure of this. As far as i know they act as mini planets, influncing the space around them. Near a border it will push the border out. Near an enemy planet it will influence that planet, possibly flipping it with other factors. Near your own planets it will counter enemy influence, so if you have planets showing a bad influence rating (the number in brackets, as when th

Cool points from the above but im not so sure about planet grab. I have done best by going for good planets early on rather then rushing for every planet. low quality planets can be left till later and then taken over by force or influence. This is my theory anyway, as i seem to overstretch myself going for planet grab and then get left behind in tech as you have.

Depends on the happiness of the planet and your influence rating. They do flip in the standard "non beta" game. Just be patient. However im not sure about the robotic guys, they are supposed to be hard to flip though so this is good that they dont! If they have "fixed" this in the beta then it needs refixing back to how it was ps as far as i know, influence bases do not have to be over the top

All interesting, i wonder if its the size of the maps which causes a problem. I also play on the larger maps, and the ai builds big ships, has good weapons. Often builds fast ships (though is not that quick at adding speed to its ships) and can avoid starbases if it has other targets to destroy. Wonder if the game is more balanced on larger maps. As i say i have not seen these major problems.

The descriptions for the bases will all have to be changed then, as with this new system it no longer makes sense. Some of the descriptions are that the base sends out new fighters, which is why you get lazer boost ect. Like small drones. But they turn around and go home if your ships dont already have lazers?

Just continue playing and things will go back to normal after a few turns. Its basically the start of a galaxy wide revolt by the sounds of things. Some of your planets may revolt in the few turns it takes to go back to fully normal, lower your taxes and keep people happy to try to minimise this.

Militaristic means they are. This means it damages your chances of peace with them slightly because they want to fight all the time. So yes its nothing to do with you and you cannot do anything about it. Only deter them by being nice and trading or being strong to put them off the attack.

What difficulty are you all playing at? The ai has no problem defeating my starbases. His fleets are at usually 30 + attack, with shields and with 100s of hitpoints. I dont know whats going on in your games. Either the difficulty is too low, you are very good at the game or the enemy you are fighting is poor economically. In which case you are bound to beat them. I have seen the ai lose to my starbases in one game but he was poor militarily.

I wouldnt bother with an entertainment structure for every farm. Instead you can research the entertainment tree and get global bonus, which is better. This will balance out the problems of the lower morale. You dont have to have your population at 90% all the time. Many times i run with them at as low as 70% or 60% Only if you have a planet which is a real problem do you need to build a few entertainment points.

Enzo is my dads name, and he is smaller than me!! He couldnt take on that many, though he does fancy himself as a bit of a Rocky... PS. did you use any sort of tidal attack or meteorite bombing first? Or just plain old combat?

The invasion ships are used in the attack, they give you air superiority and a bonus so imagine they get damaged in the fight and have to be refitted at the least. This is why they cannot be used over and over again. Also to the person who wished you could build up defences on the planet you can. You can make defences to make the troops 25% better, and all sorts of fleet improving defences to ensure your ships fight better in orbit. <b

Cool, i will have to look that up, interesting points. I think also the fact that someone else directed it helped a lot, since he didnt direct 5 or 6. I have heard the Harrison ford quote, though i heard it was something like "You can write this Sh*t but you cant act it!" <br

This has been discussed a few times. The main points are that the United Planets stands for good races. If you are powerfull enough you can leave this but no one will be impressed, if you are evil and dont hold a majority vote expect to have them set laws which hurt you. Ohh also, there are events like uprising where evil races lose most of their planets not good news! Also expect no h

10 Replies 13,128 Views

You do this by trading their voting points from them. You can also trade your own voting points to them. I have never tried to do this myself though so i dont know how costly it is. Basically if you want a race to vote for what you want you have to buy their voting points off them before the vote is cast. You wont know what the vote is going to be so it may end up you wasted your money on a rubbish resolution! Hope that hel

As far as i know influence also needs unhappiness to flip. Eg having a culture rating of about (8.00) doesnt do it alone. The way to understand this is : (8.00) 90% happiness. This planet loves your trainers and Mcdonalds, but also loves being (insert culture here), so is unlikely to flip. (8.00) 10% happiness. This culture loves your trainers and tv shows, and really hates the taxes and current government, will

Basically my first game of GC i won, i didnt really know what i was doing but i started to pick it up as i played. Expanding slowly i began to take over the whole map and stayed friends with some, enemies with others. Since then however i seem to lose a lot!! My tactics now are to planet rush, and try to get as many planets initially as i can, the thing is i think this actually stunts your growth. I end up making very little money, or
