I've found playing Galciv2: ToA really really hard with the Arcaen race. I've been able to win with most of the other races, or at least play a competetive game. With the Arcaens, I lag behind in research, expansion, economics, and as a result, military. I've tried giving them a speed +1 bonus, and taken economics +30%, but this doesn't completely solve their issues (although, I at least had a marginally better game, before getting crushed by the Thalans). I find this

There are some issues with TA; 1 ==== The manual needs to define, clearly, what the bonuses are for each race, and tech trees are for each race. Getting the first few games in has been painful for me. Why? Because I'm not sure which race best fits my playstyle. It's a great problem to have, mind you, that this game has become so deep that you can essentially "role-play" your empire, BUT... how do I know what "character class" to pick? There isn'
FINE! I'll buy it. sheeesh *giggles*
Yeah! I don't want any other games then the fantasy TBS.
Well... Demigod looks sweet O_O. PCG did a preview of it in their February issue (IIRC, it's the one I've got by the Porcelain Throne).
Hey Awesome Stardock guys (and gals!) Can we expect an update on "Not-MoM" soon? Like, shortly after the GCII: ToA release? I'm hankerin' to pre-order and devot many hours a week to the beta...
I like your thinking on this, but what's the balancing factor? Why not have the player's Dwarven/Elven/Oldworld races be off-shoots of the main empires. Have the game take place on a fresh part of the entire world, instead of the whole world. Or have the Dwarven/Elven/Oldworld empires inhabit large portions of the world (and be AI controlled). A good concept, but I think it might be too hard to manage and still remain fun. I thought MoM did a good job
I wonder if it =IS= MoM2 and Stardock somehow garnered the rights.
HoMM IV and V filled my fantasy vacuum a bit, as well as Age of Wonders Shadow Magic. I played a tonne of MoM back in the day. We used to gloat over our high scores. Boy, my HS grades sure suffered due to that title.
Hello, I recently downloaded the Stardock Central application, and used it to install GalcivII on my new computer (well, new since I got GalcivII). It was very cool and convenient. I liked how it installed the latest version. I skipped Dark Avatar, mostly because the feature list didn't excite me enough to take an extended break from World of Warcraft. However, the newer expansion has me very excited. A unique tech tree for each race is exceedingly cool! My questio
I just got out of a Drengin game where I declared war, invaded a planet, and signed a peace treaty all in the same turn. I also snagged a resource node.
No, they shouldn't get rid of the spending slider. I like deficit spending.
I agree, the choices in the Moral Dilemma should have a bigger impact on your alignment, and the cost to pick your alignment bonus should be more hefty.
Well, if you research Xeno Ethics, you'll notice that the extra tech's for the "Good" people are a heck of a lot cheaper than the extra techs for the "Evil" people. Size 6, Armor Defense 5 cost 60 armour is hot; Size ~10 (? Brain freeze ?), Beam attack 10 cost 140 == lots of turns to make your super ship. ===================================== It's all about Xeno Ethics; You research that, you get a bonus with othe
Constructors. You can design a much faster constructor for less build time. That one parsec is huge when racing towards a resource node.
I haven't had a game yet where the miniaturization bonus would've made a huge difference, but its still something that should probably be fixed. In my experience, it makes a huge difference early on. It's the difference of a second laser, or defense, weapons, and an engine on a tiny ship with just t
When you save ship designs in the ship editor, it doesn't save with the ship the miniaturization lvl that you used to build the ship. (For example, advanced vs basic). So, what you can do is, research all the miniaturization techs, then design some small ships with low level weapons / defense, start a new game, research just the weapon techs, and have beefier-than-normal ships at (near) the start of the game. I first noticed
Lots and lots of gifts then eh? Look at the "Report" for your target "ally" and see what you're minuses are, if any. I often have a problem with not having enough of a military, so I get a double minus, the computer just can't wait to crush my puny little empire.
I'm not really asking for competative multiplayer here (ie: player vs. player), just a nice 2 players vs the computer type thing. (That's what I'd tell my brother, until it was time for him to "retire"! ) Seriously though, it'd be a blast to play hotseat or by email. (With all the random stuff in there, who needs balance when you're working together)
I know multiplayer isn't high on your list; However, I do believe the current state of the game would lend itself well to "Play by Email" and "Hotseat". I'd love to play the game hotseat with my spouse. We used to play MoO2 hotseat all the time. Play by Email would be a blast w\ my Dad or my Friends as well.
Glitch: I'm running into problems obsoleting ship designs when a ship of the same name exists in another save game file. Also, when I obsolete a ship of one name, and load up my other game with a ship of the same name, the ship "disappears" (loses all it's texture, doesn't show up on the overhead map) Do you use the ship name as a seed for your "Ship ID?" If so, might I suggest using the created/upgraded time as well? Or perha
