i don't know if this has changed with the 1.1betas, but under 1.0x, to receive defense/attack assist bonuses, i've found you don't need a point in the specific category, just at least one point for attack/defense. ok that isn't explained well. example: you're fighting an early war against a civ using mass drivers. chances are you can't place a ton of defense on your small/medium ships to still have a viable offence. if you put armor defense assist on t

i can tell you as a fellow gal civ newbie, it'll take longer than one afternoon to figure this game out. the interface is slightly less than intuitive and to be blunt you have to play a couple times before you figure out how shit works. once you do it's pretty cool though, i'm looking forward to updates to improve the weaker aspects of the interface. trade items are a kind of 'wonder,' except you can trade them with other civs. you can't delete them, i

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this...when starting new random games, it seems that starting locations aren't balanced or evenly distributed throughout the galaxy. it's slightly annoying to start and have two civilizations in the solar systems right next door. i know i can hit Crl-N a bunch of times until they're a little farther, but shouldn't this not be a problem? i don't have this happen in games like civ4 random generated maps, so
