I also play on tough. My typical start is rush build a factory on the homeworld and 1 colony ship on the first turn. Then i generally just rush build the first factory on new planets, and slowly bleed the other income I have left over until I have a large enough pop/eco to make a surplus. One thing that I noticed you didn't mention, which imo makes a big difference, is manipulating the slider bars. With what I just described on t
I only play the game in 800*600
I had this problem when I downloaded the second beta. I never did get the first beta. However once i went back to 1.0x everything was fine. Surprisingly I also have an Athlon XP (2200). I have an ATI Radeon 9250 video card, fully updated directX and drivers, atleast when I got GCII.

the problem of selecting a fleet/ship to move to a new destination, which occasionally results in other fleets/ships that weren't selected going to that destination as well? I checked the change logs and couldn't find anything on it...it's driving me batty thx
My advice 1. Up the difficulty level. I essentially did 2 games normal then 1 challenging and am now doing my second game on tough. Frankly if I wasn't playing the Altarians with their ridiculous luck then I would be losing my current game, since I'm in the middle of the map and surrounded by the Yor, Drengin, Korx and Thalan. 2. Either play larger maps or if you enjoy the medium and smaller maps put more civs in than is recommen
I only experienced pauses in the space battles when a ship blew up...I turned the show ship explosion off and it runs smoothly now.
Hi all, I personally don't feel the Yor are overpowered, in fact I destroy them time and again. If you really want an easy win go with the Arceans, conversly if you want a challenge have them as an opponent.
