The game works perfectly...from the first install. My historic DELL 733/512 ATI 9600 has run this game on 1600x1200 without fault or fail. This run of user problems is mostly a maintenence and or hardware problem. Learn to operate your puter, take some time to read a operational manual and stop blaming this particular developer for your lack of basic computer skills.
Allways with the driver update advice... as if thats the first step in fixing bad puter performance, it is not. Computers with a varied use... web surfing, porn views, GOOGLE & YAHOO addictions etc all add an amazing array of unwelcome crap files. Virus scans by a single agent do not always remove problem files that can have a wierd affect on your puter. The AVG virus scan program, ADAWARE, the MS maintainance programs have all served me well. I have an antique Dell 733 purchased in 2000 with a recent upgrade to a 512 memory and an ATI 9600 vid card and have never had a serious problem with this game or any other recent title even at the 1600x1200 setting (although a bit staggard framerate in the visuals)...EVER. You sir are either a total novice at the computer or are operating a true shitbox or both. I am amazed at the incessent complaining about operational probs with this game. Fellow GC2 fans. I have a very old Dell Dimension 733, 512 memory , ATI9600 256 memory card running windows 98SE. From the first day I played, right from the box, I never had one problem with this game and I'm even using the max graphics 1600x1200 which is my CRT's limit. Game runs flawlessly for me and most others I'll wager. It's the puter and it's user that create the diversity of gameing results as do many other programs to one degree or another. My machine and I are old friends and she still suprises me with an unexpected glitch every now and then.
This AI debate that just rages on and on is a hoot. Seems that some gamers feel that this game just isn't perfect unless their playing against IBM's Big Blue or R2D2 or HAL or that gay robot from Lost In Space...I could go on and on but you get the point I hope. This is a very nteresting game thats bound to evolve and thats all I ask or expect from my games in 2006. Now 2106 ...thats a different story.
Just had a minor race send a freighter to trade with me and so increased my revenue, I'd call that right friendly.
